Agreed. The bowlers should have done better

slow century or not, 289 was a very defendable score against BD

My personal opinion is that he should retire from the limited overs format atleast. The problem is he needs one more for his 50th ODI ton!

289 does not guarantee you a win on subcontinent conditions. If the opposing team bats well they can win without hassle. Full credit to BD batters for that.

Batting first if things are going well and you are not losing wks, you really need to be trgetting 300+ on the subcontinent... and 325-340 when you have batsmen that India has.. we have set well above 300+ totals very often in recent years.

I wouldnt term 289 as a winning total. It's a defendable total.

Frankly it was not a bad score but it was below par when one thinks of number of wickets that fell, if a team has lost just 2 wickets by 45th over they got to score more than 300.

Congratulations Sachin Tendulkar on a great achievement. 100 100s is impossible to even imagine. It was your day and you earned it (even the right to score only 20 runs off 38 balls to reach your hundred).

For this game, I am glad you did what it took to reach this milestone. 289 should have been enough against Bangladesh, so this loss is not on you. Ashwin misjudging a ball in an over that went for 21 runs (Dandi) kind of summed up India’s plight.

I had the same feeling. I am a big Sachin fan and never agreed with critics that his 100 causes India to lose or he plays for record. But this particular hundred was very selfish and was a big reason for India's loss ( apart from dollies from our bowlers). 36 balls to move from 80 to 100 bulk of which was power play.. Pathetic... Never wanted legend to achieve such a milestone in this fashion
