He was Indian by nationality and by birth he was born in India. But KAKA his poetry is in Urdu not in hindi and Hindi is national language of India. You cannot call him your national poet.

My Indian friends often tell me that Hindi is not a ‘national’ language of India, its an ‘official language’.
