A group of Pakistani men has been accused of raping a teenaged girl and forcing her to parade naked through her village because one of her relatives eloped with a young women from the men’s family, police said on Wednesday.
Such attacks, known as honour crimes because they are committed in response to a perceived slight on a family’s honour, are common in predominantly Muslim Pakistan, especially in backward, rural communities.
Police said the girl’s father had filed a complaint on Saturday in Ubaro town, 530 km from the city of Karachi, saying a group of 11 men had kidnapped his daughter, raped her and forced her to parade naked.
The father told police the men were furious because the girl’s cousin had eloped with and married a young woman from their family.
“Some villagers have said the girl was raped and her clothes torn off,” investigating police officer Aftab Farooqi told the agency.
“They also claim she was forced to walk half naked in the village streets before some older woman covered her with a blanket,” he said.
The girl is in hospital in Ubaro, police said.
Another senior police official, Mushtaq Khoso, said police had arrested four of the 11 men named in the complaint and police were awaiting a medical report to confirm the 16-year-old had been raped.
Another police officer said certain influential people were pressing the girl’s father to drop his complaint.
The case brings to mind a similar attack on a village woman in 2002.
The woman, Mukhtaran Mai, was gangraped on the orders of a traditional village council in Punjab province as punishment because her brother had had a relationship with a young woman without the approval of her family.
Mai pressed charges against her attackers and rose to international prominence as a women’s rights campaigner.
what a bunch of animals, they should all be executed.
what a farce, I do hope they are made an example. I was happy to not hear of crap like that in the news for sometime hoping that people had grown the hell up, but I was wrong.
The fact that people do this, knowing that they can probably get away with it is troubling. Our law and order needs to be friggin fixed so this crap has little chance of happening, and people have some fear of law to prevent them form acting on their jahil moronic mindsets
But before they are hanged, they should pay a big hefty sum of money to the girl so that she can settle comewhere else in Pak and live a comfotable life if she chooses, that's if that's what she wants, I know she shouldn't have to but in our culture viginity before marriage is everything and rape victims like her live a life of embarassment and shame.. :(

What the hell has being Muslim got to do with this? The journalist who wrote that article wants a smack.
When Pakistanis/Muslims do something bad there Pakistani/Muslim identity is always highlighted but if they do something positive their Pakistani descent or Muslim faith are downplayed... I've seen this a lot with the media, like with them terror suspects arrested today, they made a point of them being Pakistani even though they're not Pakistani, they're British citizens whereas if it's somebody positive like Amir Khan or Sajid Mehmood, their Paki origin is not even mentioned.
This is the height of cruelty. I can't imagine how the poor girl felt at the time. Fraudia is right, we need to fix our laws, and every single one of them b**tards.
perhaps the law of club is the only way our country will go.. and now listen up patriots lets admit that pakistan is a backward, half-arsed, infidelic, grotty little country with no brains >> well AT LEAST the rural areas if nothing else.. what we should do is correct it; which can be done by - as i said before - by the law of the club
they all know basic ethics, just that they make up there own bs, cuz there is no police force actually enforcing laws...and the few friggin macho wanna b guys think that this is actually punishment for the guy, they shud of just found the guy and killed them...at least that wud make sum sense.
May Lord gives some guidance to them if there were little bit (faith left in their hearts) otherwise give them what they deserve (i.e. worst death) in world and hereafter
It's horrible even to imagine 11 guys forcing themselves on this 16 years old girl. I am thinking about the humiliation, abuse and terror she had to go through. These people don't deserve an iota of mercy, I believe in rape cases the male perpetrator should be castrated instead of killed, so he can suffer the rest of his life like the victim.
its not that they dont know that its wrong....
some humans just need any excuse to satiate their lust....
they know very well that it is wrong, but maybe they already had their eyes set on the girl, and were waiting for any ooportunity to come by to have their desires....
i somehow find it very hard to believe that any man can rape a girl and believe that he is doing right....
