Am Suprised No-one on GS mentioned this… A 17-year-old boy has died in hospital after being struck by lightning during a game of cricket with friends, a coroner’s court has revealed.
Mohammed Junaid Hussain suffered a heart attack and burns after the tree he was sheltering under in Small Heath Park, Birmingham, was hit during a storm on Saturday.
He was first taken to the city’s Heartlands Hospital before being transferred to a specialist burns unit at Selly Oak Hospital, where he died on Tuesday.
Birmingham Coroner’s Court is hoping to open the inquest into his death later today.
Five other teenagers, all aged between 16 and 17, were also taken to hospital after being struck by lightning in the same incident and are said to be in a stable condition.
It is believed they were playing cricket when they were caught in torrential storms and decided to shelter under the tree.
A tribute to Mohammed posted on the Birmingham Post](http://www.birminghampost.net/) website on Tuesday night read: "RIP Mohammad Junaid Hussain.
"Junaid was confirmed dead at 1:50 today, family was told at 11:55am he was not going to make it.
“Junaid you will be missed by family and friends and we’ll never 4rget u, ull always be in our hearts.”
He Had 5 Brothers & 2 sisters, he was the second eldest.
I feel very sorry for his fam

P.S. This happend on Saturday around 4:30, i was around the corner from that area luckily was in the car, and i did feel the car shake…and soo far i’ve herd One other boy Lost his eyesight and 1 had an arm stroke, I just pray for this NOT to be true

yes chochi hes outta one of the , he was my khalas hubbys nephew, u might even knw him faizy
but yeh apparently hes been paralysed, im not too sympathetic with them

Khala ke hubby ko khalo kehty hain. I mean khala and hubby two words ki jaga one word khalo chal jata(now):D

Thats so sad. I don't remember being taught not to stand under tree's at school except when it was pouring down and thundering and we were running towards the school past a massive oak tree, the head master was YELLING at us "DON'T GO NEAR THE TREE!!! DON'T GO NEAR THE TREE!" as he held the door open for us. When we got inside he was REALLY angry for not knowing about trees and lightning.
It was really sad CCB, I did write a blog entry on this the day it happened.. the park wasn't too far from my home. The boy who died, was an old school friend of one of my friend's. By the way, from what I heard, the boys were sheltering under a tree from really heavy rain.. the thunder was quite unexpected for a lot of us here & I guess they were just really unlucky.
May Allah swt forgive his sins and grant him jannat, ameen. Also, may Allah swt keep each and every one of us in his protection.
