Technical/medical/religious question

Add one more “/mathematical” question. It would have looked odd with so many’ / ’ in the title

Yesterday, out of nowhere, it came to my mind. And as I do a lot of calculations in mind, thus arised the question.

Note --It is religiously a non-issue, just the prefix from Islamic history

We know that Hazrat Fatima(ra) was daughter of Prophet Muhammad(saw) and Hazrat Khadija(ra). Now at the time of demise of Prophet(saw) hazrat Fatima was 18 years old(aprox.). And Prophet died at 63. Now

63- 18 = 45

It mean that Hazrat Fatima was born when Prophet (saw) was 45 years old. I read in elimentry islamiat that Hazoor maried Hazrat Khadiaja at the age of 25 when she was 40 (aprox) the difference

40 -25 =15

So when Prophet(saw) was 45, hazrat Khadija was 60 years old !

Question : Is it normal that a lady concieves a child at the age of around 60 ? What is threshold age of having child ?

we were discussing that at this dars the other day...

it mite not be true that she was 40 at that time...
she WAS older....
par we dun have any solid evidence that she was 40...do we?

Yes thats true, we don’t have any solid evidence about age, thats why i put ‘aprox’ in brackets (which means ± 1,2 years). But we also don’t know about ages of other people for sure.

acha…phir?

Are you sure she was 18 when the Prophet :saw: passed away ? she also passed away 6 months later, and she had 5 children by then, so where did you get 18 from?

Ive read she was around 29 when she passed away, but not totally sure.

So I dont think Khadija :razi2: was 60 when she was born.

But yeah there is usually doubt regarding the exact age of people from that time.

Didnt people live much longer back then? Is there a difference of how we interpret age?

Actually that comment is not as dumb as it sounds, cause the islamic year is usually 11 days shorter.

^You have so much faith in my intelligence Im flattered.Ofcourse it doesnt sound dumb.Im going to try to get an interesting hadith that I once heard -about an issue related to this.

MQ, I think you are confusing long ages with this time period. That used to happen like thousands of years before Prophet :saw:

Well 18 is the popularly known/stated age of Hazrat Fatima(ra). But that is not the issue.

To give benefit of the doubt take it as if she was 55 at that time. Is 55 sound age for child birth ?

Another thing..(medical students or doctor may answer it )

Can child birth take place after menopause ?

It may be but I think the avg. age is 50 and besides, older a woman gets, the weaker she gets, I doubt if she'll be able to bear the pain.

As far as I know, No.

The idea that people in old ages used to live up to 100s of years old is wrong, derived from misunderstanding the Quranic verses. As a matter of fact in those days (time of Noah & before) life span of human beings was much smaller due to lack of health care. Reaching 50 for a normal person would mean having no teeth, a bucket load of other diseases and living off of the younger community.

^ I thought it’s mentioned in Quran that Noah lived 50 less 1000 years (950 years)

I have a question:

If you say Hazrat Fatima (RA) was only about 18 year old when Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) passed away, then how come he used to play with Hazrat Fatima’s (RA) sons Hazrat Hasan (RA) and Hazrat Hussain (RA)? I don’t think she was married when she was 12 or 13

I think it was something from Allah. Didn't you ever hear about some sahabi or someone like that (i forgot the name) who didn't have a child until both of them were REALLY old like above 50 I guess or even 60 or something and they kept praying for a child and that's when they had one, when they were really old. Gosh, does anyone remember who it was?
So yeah, hazrat Hadija was older than hazrat Mohammad (saw) when they got married and had only one child after a long time. We also read that in elementary islamic studies.

Hazrat Zakariya :razi2:and his wife

And even more famously Hazrat Ibrahim :as: and his wife Sarah.

Well the popular views are that Hazrat Fatima(ra) was 18 at that time, some other historians are of the view that she was born two years prior to first revelation(it makes her 25 at the time of prophet’s(pbuh) death). Allah knows the best

Destinee As Femme Fatale mentioned, they were prophet Zikarya and his wife probably in their late nineties or so when Allah gave them their first and only offspring, Prophet Yahya. It is mentioned in quran as a miracle.

So you are suggesting that we take birth of Hazrat fatima as miracle ?
I have no problem with that, But in reality no one neither at that time nor now thought that way. They took it as normal. If they thought it to be something extra-ordinary, then surely there was a mention of this in history books.

So if we take either age, Hazrat Khadija (ra) must be around mid fifties at that time, thus it may be normal age for women at that time to conceive child.

I may be wrong, some person with sound medical knowlegde may explain it better.

…OR the data we gather about the prophet’s and his wife’s ages from history are false :ahaa:
i wonder where all these numbers come from?

hahaha…MQ has low IQ (rhymes too!)
