It’s official! Team India is the number one in the world… in garnering financial sponsorships that is! If the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is to be believed the Indian cricket team is worth a whopping 27.12 million USD — this is way above their nearest rivals, which includes the world’s top football clubs.

The team sponsorship for Italian giants Juventus stands at 22.2 million USD, Roman Abrahamavich’s Chelsea is sponsored for 17.5 million USD, Manchester United (the richest club in the world) is valued at 14 million USD, Spanish giants Real Madrid are sponsored for 16.8 million USD.

This among other sponsorship details were announced yesterday at a city hotel by the Board’s representatives, vice president Lalit Modi and secretary Niranjan Shah.

The Team India kit sponsorship is valued at a Rs 196.66 crores.

**India land £25m sponsorship deal **

The Indian cricket board has signed a kit sponsorship deal with Nike, worth around £25m over five years.
Nike outbid rivals such as Adidas, Reebok and Slazenger to land the contract, which begins on 1 January.

Vice-president Lalit Modi said India had now become the world’s “most valued brand in team sponsorship”.

Airline company Sahara, remain the national side’s main backers after agreeing a new four-year deal worth almost £40m on Monday.

“The aim was to maximise the gains for the benefit of the game,” Modi said.

“The BCCI is looking at exploring new sources of revenue and will soon open itself to product merchandising, ground sponsorship and other licensing as part of its strategy to market the game.”

The figures go a long way towards explaining why the BCCI is the richest cricket board in the world.

England, by comparison, have a four-year sponsorship deal with Vodafone, thought to be worth £15m.

The West Indies Cricket Board, meanwhile, agreed the biggest deal in their history with Digicel earlier this year which will bring in £10.5m.

I wonder what kind of sponsorship deal Pakistan has. Can anyone please advise how much does Pakistan make in sponsorships. I am pretty sure it would be much less but just wanted to get an idea

and which company besides pepsi soponsors pakteam...

and does invidual contracts of players with companies (e.g. afridi and Yummi ice cream)
count in that team worth ?

Naturally - India has the best fans and the best team...so why not pay the best to the team too? For once we can afford to do so.

Though yes, we love our team and whoever plays for the country.
And Surely.............. For Once we can afford this... This has been happening in other sports as well..
1. Hockey team got PHL league
2. Soccer league is big time on TV with sponsors
3. Look at sponsorships to Sania Mirza
4. Kathikeyan could raise mandatory million of dollars for his formula racing debut
5. Last I heard Badminton team has been sponsored..
6. Even players for first class cricket matches are getting paid decent money, the money was raised substantially last year

Well then thats what I was trying to say. I seriously don’t give a damn even if the BCCI becomes 10 times as rich because money doesn’t make you the best team.

ahsan bhai sab.., why do u take that to heart. We support our team and u support urs. Does it really matter.
I think you are watching/reading too much of Indian media. Its legitimate for a country’s media to go gung ho about their sports team. Which countrie’s media does not do that. The american media bullys every other country. So being bigger in size and speaks mostly the same language indian media is just bullying pakistanies. Its just normal.
If this Indian team does not perform then the same media will crush them. Do not be afriad.
