My mom makes my younger sisters read from the Bible everynight with her, but since she’s ill she cant do it and has asked me to read it to them or with them…I’m allowed to do that, right?

Sabriya then you will become christian missionary. :D
Jokes apart why your mother is doing that, is she a christian?
Re: Teaching Bible
why not read them translation from the Quran????
Re: Teaching Bible
Light Bearer- yeah and so are my sisters
Armughal- Because they dont believe in that...
So its a definite no?
Re: Teaching Bible
no, in that case u shud not read bible to them, and if u r a muslim and blieve i Quran u shud be teaching them Quran as a duty and obligation....
Re: Teaching Bible
I really don't know.
Can you consult your dad on this. I don't think as a muslim you are supposed to do that (Somebody with more knowledge can clarify this).
Re: Teaching Bible
Ok :(
And as for the second part, I would but I dont want to offend anyone, no one likes having something shoved in their face or having people impose opinions on them.
But thanks for the help.
Their dad is also Christian, mine has nothing to do with the scenario. I'll look it up online though, thanks.
Re: Teaching Bible
just reading from the book doesnt make any offsense. everything is made by GOD including bible.
Re: Teaching Bible
^Thats what I was thinking at first, because I know some people who had to take theology and studied the Bible, just wanted to double-check.
Thanks.
Re: Teaching Bible
I don't think it's right. I'd definitely never do it if I were in your place.

Perhaps your mother will be okay with showing them bible cartoons, or something like that? That way, you don't have to be an active participant.
It's one thing to read the Bilbe, but to read it to others for the sake of strengthening/propagating their faith in it...that sounds like a clear conflict of interest...
It's a tricky situation...
Oh, and I hope your mum gets well soon...

I hope your mom gets well Inshallah! My opinion is you should not do that because the intent and purpose is to teach them the Bible or at least develop an attachment for it in them. You being a muslim do not believe in the Bible (at least not the way you believe in the Quran as being the chosen scripture). And this is not about teaching sciences or another subject matter where you may not agree yet teach it.
On the other hand if your proficient enough in the Bible that you can teach certain lessons from it, which are common to both Quran and the Bible, I think that might buy you the time till your mom feels better and yet you do not guide them against their fundamental beliefs or yours.
Re: Teaching Bible
I am curious how helping someone to read would be against islam? You are not preaching them that they should believe in that stuff, etc. The person is a child of that faith and needs help with reading when mom is sick so what's the big deal?
Re: Teaching Bible
^The deal is conflict of interest.
Re: Teaching Bible
^^ God doesnt think that way.
Just by reading bible doesnt make allah hurt. Only ur deeds will matter at the judgement day.
open ur mind guys.
Re: Teaching Bible
Your sisters can't read? And is your mom not going to get better , like ever? I'm sure when she's well again, she can resume her bible duties. Until then, if the kids don't hear some verses from the Bible, they wont be missing much.
Re: Teaching Bible
Prophet pbuh never stopped helping people because it contradicted his beliefs sso then why should we stop helping people, neither that will change our belief nor we are trying to enforce our belief on them.
Re: Teaching Bible
This is an incredible opportunity Allah has given you to give dawah both to your sisters and mom. Take it while you can, may Allah make it easy for you.
Re: Teaching Bible
Lusi, helping people is one thing. But I don't think the Prophet picked up other theologies contradictory to Islam and preached them to convenience other people. Key is tolerance, not obedience to another religion.

thats the conflict when you you read something to someone that you believe will land them in hell then are you aren't helping them.
