Tea tree oil

Where is it available and is there
any particular brand to look for?

Re: Tea tree oil

In some supermarkets, they're in the chemist section (by vitamins etc.)...or go to a specialty health shop...i don't think brand matters, just make sure it's 100% natural/organic.

Re: Tea tree oil

Do you want the oil or products made from it ? Body Shop carries a wide variety of tea tree oil products.

Re: Tea tree oil

what is tea tree oil used for?

Re: Tea tree oil

Since it’s antiseptic/antibiotic, antifungal and antiviral it has quite a few health/beauty uses…

Use in ur bath to help treat thrush…protects from cold/flu…effective against dandruff…combats acne.

Re: Tea tree oil

You can get it from any natural/herbal remedies stores. It's a small bottle and costs about $10.00.

The only tea tree oil product from The Body Shop that works on me is the toner. The actual tea tree oil face wash makes me break out.

Re: Tea tree oil

^^ makes u breakout? how come? tea tree oil is used to prevent breakouts and oily skin in general...

Re: Tea tree oil

I know SD. It's just the facial wash though, my skin isn't normally sensitive so I don't know why I was breaking out each time I used it. I switched to their Vitamin C face wash and it's much better on me, but I still use the tea tree oil toner.

In fact, I have pure tea tree oil which I use whenever I break out. Just put a dab of it directly on the blemish and it disappears within a few hours. I don't know why though, that particular face wash didn't work on me ... must have been one of the ingredients in the face wash that I reacted to. Oh well.

Re: Tea tree oil

^^ lolz thats funny because I bought their Vitamin C face wash...the big orange jar...a few yrs ago and i remember it made me breakout lolz... i didnt really like any of their other face washes in general....i got a tea tree oil stick from there which is ok..

Re: Tea tree oil

I want to use tea tree oil for blemishes/spots.
But the thing is my skin isn't really oily anymore.
More on the dry and sensitive side.

How exactly should I use it?
Just dab on blemishes? And does it also help with spots?

Re: Tea tree oil

Same here…i dab it on my spots, at the first sign that way they don’t get any bigger…but u have to keep at it, or they won’t go…i dunno about blemishes/marks though…but i just started using it for occasional spots…does anyone know how to get rid of those stubborn red marks (for light skin) after the spot goes away?

Re: Tea tree oil

hey! say "tea tree" again and again really fast its a tongue twister...!

Re: Tea tree oil

^ Yep :rotato:

Re: Tea tree oil

^It sure is. :D

Re: Tea tree oil

Ok I just got a bottle from “The body shop”.
But I have just realized some of you mentioned it should be pure.
One I got is 15% tea tree oil.
Is that good enough???

Re: Tea tree oil

One more question,
do I apply tea tree oil and then my moisturizer on top of that???

Re: Tea tree oil

as far as i know, u dont have to use any other product with it. Just apply the oil.

Re: Tea tree oil

For toning, this one that you got is great. Use it everyday and you will notice a visible decrease in the amount of acne … assuming you have some of course.

If you want pure tea tree oil, you can get that from any homeopathic/nature shop. It’s a tiny bottle and costs about $15. For this, you apply a small amount of oil directly on the acne/blemish before bed and it is normally gone by the next day.

The toner works the same way too though, except you apply the toner all over your face or only on your t-zone since if you have combination skin, it may dry out your cheeks … which is why I only use it on my t-zone.
