Re: ...Tax Filers...
Dushi Yes I am filing as "married filing jointly". I didn't know that a single woman pays more taxes. Are you really sure about that? I thought they were same if not more for men. I would like to check into that and find out more.
DM did you work less in 06? or may be claimed more exemptions and got paid more per pay check and got less taxes witheld? And now when it's time for the return, you get a low return because you didn't have a substantial amount witheld in each paycheck.

Shikra:
When I used to be single ( ), I used to pay tax at single rate. That means they would take higher taxes out of my income but at the end of the year, when I would file taxes, they would give me a refund because they took more taxes out than my income level should have paid. So that would mean a refund.
Anyway, I filed taxes as “Married and filing jointly” status. Like before, I had taxes deducted (federal and state) at a higher rate. So I’ll be getting a refund for Federal and State. However, mrs. didn’t have her taxes deducted at a higher rate (or something) for the state of NY, so I’ll have to pay taxes to the state, which is not a problem.
The problem is here: I gave my bank account and asked them to take money out of there for the NY state tax and use the same account to pay me the refund for federal and LA state tax. I filed the tax on Sunday and money was taken out on Tuesday. There is no sign of the refund that should be coming INTO my account
Paisay laitey waqt yeh log bohat jald baazi kartey hain, detey waqt maut parti hai
Anybody would like to agree/differ?

I THINK you can still file it because there’s a spot where you have to declare how much interest you paid on your student loans.
Shweetz Are you a student or do you have a full time job:hmmm:
