BBC NEWS | Middle East | Egypt cleric ‘to ban full veils’
They should be banned and refuted. It irks me when Pakistani women adopt this backward custom in order to be more Arabized.

Re: Tantawi calls for a ban on niqab
Is Vatican City going to announce a ban on nuns outfit also? Will they allow them to marry and have sex like god intended them to? If that ever happens, would we see a similar title for a thread?
Why is that world never talks about that and why niqab/hijab is such a problem for people around the world.

Nuns don't cover their faces and attend anti-American/pro-alQaeda rallies as niqabis often do.
Re: Tantawi calls for a ban on niqab
Why anti american rallies are the only objectionable rallies? Why anti-islam rallies were never objected upon.
btw, every anti american rally is not pro-alqaeda rally.

Some folks are afflicted with Bushism "Either you're with us, or against us", unfortunately.
What gives you the right to say its right to ban
is it right to ban by force?
u really think those women who DARE to wear niqaab no matte what outside world has to say
they will take off their niqaab? how ignorant and childish thinking.
the purpose should be to empower women to bring them back into society
but if u ban something then u will isolate them more

What is your problem if someone covers her face.
If someone does it without force what is your problem?
Does it make you feel less male?
Re: Tantawi calls for a ban on niqab
the topic u used in this thread
was debated and discussed before
i really wonder what u want to achieve by
posting it here again?
Re: Tantawi calls for a ban on niqab
The same people crying over this ban are usually the same who refer to Western women as “loose”, “immoral”, and “whorish”. They would have no problem forcing women to cover yet they say this is a violation of their “right”. ![]()
Hijab isn’t enough for them? They want to cover so they can try to act like they are better than everyone?

Actually, this is a new element in the niqab debate with the statements by Tantawi...hence why I posted them. :)

Then how come every al-Muhajiroun rally in England is often dominated by niqabis?
Re: Tantawi calls for a ban on niqab
Do you understand that 1000s upon 1000's of women in Egypt wear niqaab because they want to and not because anyone is forcing on them. You think that their rights were not violated when that ban became official.

Or maybe because they are wearing them due to fear by Islamic extremists?
^I wonder why women in the west who have converted to Islam prefer to wear the Niqab, who is forcing them?

WOW what kind of logic is that? What does the Niqab have to do with any rallies? Be it anti-american or pro-american rally. LOL Why the need to bring that up here?
I don't see how this is related.
And FYI, It's not just Muslims who take part in anti-USA rallies. Such rallies take place all over the world. And the US flag is one of the top five most burned flags in the world.
Re: Tantawi calls for a ban on niqab
MAYBE is always an assumption my friend and one should not ban things based on assumptions.
Re: Tantawi calls for a ban on niqab

Re: Tantawi calls for a ban on niqab
A country where an Autocratic, authoritarian despot rules with iron hands last 30 plus years is not criticised here that really amuses me.
I wonder what the starter of this thread thinks about Husni Mubarak and his reign of last 30 years whilst his sun waiting to switch the seat!!?? Do you justify his rule?
Even Al Azhar University is dictated by Mubarak and his cronies so whatever comes out of Al Azar i do not take serious. Egypt is second or third receiver of US aid so no wonder that Egyps is a puppy of USA for last 30 years and will do everything to please his masters.
Again think o you simple souls. What are ur objectives??? U want to empower the women or not? I am also not pro Niqaab i think its not obligatory in Islam but many think otherwise and as long as they don't HURT anybody who the hell are u or me to tell then not to wear niqaab!!!

Women in the West who converted often do so because they believe the niqab is important to Islam, when it really isn't. Hijab is fine, but the niqab is too much, and in the West, the niqab is counterproductive.
You also forget to note that these niqabi converts often support the Taliban and were instrumental in the support for Lal Masjid. I'm sure many people here support the right of niqabis who participated in the Lal Masjid protests 2 years ago, right?

Yeah, Muslims do care abotu empowering women. That's why in Muslim countries women continue to be relegated to second-class citizens. After all, wasn't a female Pakistani MP shot by a fanatic because she didn't wear a niqab in February 07? Where was the outrage by the niqab supporters? Oh wait, they were cheering the murder of the woman, I forgot.

Since you have the habit of ignoring my questions :) and my country arguments to your fabels
i will not be surprise if u again do not reply me.
First of all the people in Pakistan and Pakistani government do not know what happend in Lal Masjid so how come you talk about lal masjid as if you were inside lal masjid.
I know people who are clean shaved and women who wear mini skirt (yeah i do know them lolz ) who support Al Qaida :) so ur argument about niqabi supporting Taliban is baseless and irrelevant.
Concerning women wearing niqaab in the West aha thats interesting angel :)
In Holland and Belgium where Muslim population is (together) about 2 million,
only 300 (max) wear niqaab yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees not more. What are u talking about
my goodness gracious moi what is ur problem here 786
naam to bohat hi acha hai lekin kuch problem hai aap ko against muslims i wonder what it is
i am reading ur threads and trying to figure it out.
Gosh, i sound like Oprah!! lolz
