hmmm not sure about this. Haseena Moin was a great writer in her hay-day, dhoop kinare, tanhiyan, ankahi are some of the best works we've seen on pakistan tv, but her recent works have been fairly questionable. Additionally the "tanhiyan 2" team can't exactly call it a sequal since the producer isn't PTV so it's not an official sequel.

PTV is full of third rate private productions. They are not producing their stuff (dramas) any more. All they produce are some average serials with shady scripts and shaky sets under the Mujahideen directors like Kazim Pasha and Tariq Mairaj. Under the circumstances, excepting PTV to make a sequel of yesteryears classic is just out of question.

I am not sure how Syra Yousuf will do but I have high expectations from this drama. I am so excited to see Mohammad Ahmed working with Haseena Moin because their style of writing is very similar - the nok jhok to make us laugh :P I wish Salma Hasan was in this drama, playing Shehnaz Sheikh's (Zara?) character. The drama is being directed by Marina Khan as well so it looks like a good team. :)

Ukh...sayra yusuf as in poor accented, wooden-expressioned-monotonous acting sayra yusuf? Ehhhh.....not impressed.

Additionally the director is also different and even the writer is only partially the sme( Mohammad Ahmed is doing the writing, haseena apa gave the concept). I am excited abt the drama coz of the cast and the expectation that it won't be saas baho drama. But I don't feel great about a "sequel" , unless done very right, sequels have the ability of ruining your
Experience of the original . I love tanhiyan, and I don't want my memories of that awesome drama being ruined.

It will indeed ruin the original tanhaiyan memory, i dont like sequels. But then again, marina did a great job of the baraat series...
however its hard to replace people like jamshed ansari, shehnaz sheikh and marina khan as actors.

qazi wajid's sister 'appa begum' was played by azra sherwani.

What is the name of the actress who played Aiswarya's Dadi in Hum dil de chuke sanam? The same actress also played mother of Amitabh in 'Cheeni Kam'?

Zohra Sehgal is relative (aunt) of Sumayya Mumtaz (MZZB fame)

^ nopes! And since she declined the role, they decided to kill her character! So now every time I'll watch Zara in tanhiyan, that's all I ll think of. That she died a few years after tanhiyan. I would have much rather preferred another actress playing Zara then having to accept her death
