Rebel group threatens attacks on Sri Lanka civilians
COLOMBO: A suspected front for Tamil Tiger rebels vowed on Saturday to kill majority Sinhalese civilians in southern Sri Lanka in retaliation for the army bombing of a refugee camp this week that killed dozens of minority Tamils.
The High Security Zone Residents’ Liberation Force, which has claimed responsibility for a rash of deadly attacks on troops, made its threat a day after a pro-rebel Tamil MP was slain in the capital.
“Ultimately it would be the Sinhala people who will pay the price for the actions of their sons and daughters occupying the Tamil motherland,” the group, which claims to represent Tamils displaced by army high security zones in the northern army-held Jaffna peninsula, said in a statement faxed to Reuters.
“On several occasions we had warned of every action having an equal and opposite reaction. We regret the retaliatory measures that have been forced upon us, and extend our early condolences to the victims.” The group has also previously threatened to hit hospitals and infrastructure in the south. …

The LTTE is one terrorist organisation that has India and Pakistan united in helping the Sri Lankan government fight it. While the group does not profess any religion - Velupillai Prabakaran, it's leader is a Hindu and Anton Balasingham, the ideologue who lives in the UK is Christian - it has a record of having killed and ethnically cleansed Muslim areas in North and Northeastern Sri Lanka right from the time it started fighting the Sri Lankan government. If governments around the world have not recognised the LTTE as murdering Muslims it is nothing more than a pervcerted way of looking at the world and at the world's Muslims in particular. While the world rightly mourns Bosnia's Muslims, it cannot be bothered with Sri Lankan Muslims who suffer a much worse fate under the LTTE's jackboot.

prabhakaran or ltte does not believe in religion as a policy. The Dravida munnetra kazhagam (DMK) in tamilnadu and the marumalarchi dravida munnetra kazhagam(MDMK) lead by Vaiko who have sympathies to the ltte are more leftist than even the leftist. They have also tamil muslims in their ranks. The killings of the muslims are also done by the govt as well. Just a few days ago the govt killed around 50 people in the refuge camp. This only alianates the tamils further from srilankan govt, which will only cause trouble more for India.
Sri Lankan muslims speak tamil and not the majority language of Sinahalese. Sri-Lankan muslim prefer to live in tamil hindu areas and NOT the majority Sinhalese areas....what can you infer from this???
LTTE is not a hindu organization. A lot of it's members are from the lower hindu castes. It's leader is from a dalit fisherman caste.
The top organization of LTTE is run by Christians.

And for your info most Muslims in Sri Lanka are fluent in at least two languages and DO NOT consider themselves Tamil. Many Colombo Muslims speak English only. Others are fluent in Sinhalese and Tamil and yet others only speak Tamil. The Sri Lankan Muslims compose mainly two groups: Moors and Malays and much smaller groups of Bohras and Pakistani Muslims (yes Pakistani Muslims) who settled in Sri Lanka for trade reasons after independence and live entirely in Colombo.
THERE ARE NO SINHALESE OR MUSLIMS living under the control of the Tamil Hindu LTTE. **They have been butchered, killed and chased away. **The LTTE invented ethnic cleansing before the Balkans when they gave 48 hours for all Muslims living in the north of the country to just get out of their homes and leave. No Tamil civilians protested this. And where did all these innocent Muslims go? To live with the Sinhalese where they are not persecuted.

Muslims have never supported separatism in Sri Lanka and will never ever support these Tamil Hindu extremists who are trying to destroy the country.
Infact it is the Muslims in Sri Lanka who stood by the Sinhalese in defending the country from the violent colonials when Tamils were all too happy to get all the benefits and submit to the foreigners. Ever seen or heard a Sri Lankan Muslim ask for a separate state in Sri Lanka? Nope. They are all standing against the violence and terror of the Tamil Hindu LTTE.

ur geocities are all not credible....and dont even talk about hypocrisy. i am a south indian, i know what is the status of LTTE and it cannot lift its head in india. some politicians in tamil nadu may have sympathies with them.....let them, so what?
Let's leave it to readers to decide the validity of geocities. It's common knowledge the LTTE has ethnically cleansed all areas it controls of Sinhalese, Muslims and all non-Tamils.
Whether you like it or not, India is a hypocritical nation crying about "cross border terrorism" when it has done exactly that to Sri Lanka. It armed, trained and financed the LTTE then got its own ex prime minister (Rajiv Gandhi) blown into a million pieces by the very terror group it was arming and training.
Indian politicians (especially in Tamil Nadu) continue to support terrorism in Sri Lanka. That is, people in the government. Not some civil groups. This while the LTTE is banned organization in India. So much for the law. BTW some of these Tamil Nadu politicians are wanted men in Sri Lanka for breaking Sri Lankan immigration laws and illegally entering Sri Lankan territory and meeting up with Prabhakaran.

It's not about hatred, Kamal123, but clearing up the misinformation being spread by people like Kataria. It's about informing people about how India sponsored and aided one of the world's most deadliest terrorist organizations and how its politicians continue to support its terror activities in Sri Lanka.
Well look, 1200 Indian soldiers laid their lives while fighting the LTTE. The Sri-Lanksn government has recently honoured the Indian soldiers by laying a memorial for them in Colombo.
Rajiv Gandhi was killed because he ordered the IPKF to fight in Sri-Lanka, although it was meant to be a neutral peacekeepers.
Arming and training is nothing new. Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia,and other Muslim countries gave covert financial and military support to Afghan mujahiddeen. India did the same to Tamils after they were brutally purged and systematically cleansed by majority Sinhala population for many years before the 80s.
But when LTTE began to have territorial ambitions on Sri-Lanka, then did Rajiv Gandhi ordered Indian army to fight against LTTE.
The Indian government recognizes Sri-Lankan integrity, sovereignty and authority over all the area of Sri-Lanka. It does not recognize any ad-hoc or de facto government set-up by the LTTE in LTTE controlled areas.
Nobody supports LTTE, but ordinary Tamil civillians. India has been getting a few hundred Tamil refugees from Sri-Lanka for so many weeks and its continuing as you read this.
India has armed the Sri-Lankan government with ground radars, BFSRs and right now Sri-Lankan army personnel are training near Bangalore.
MDMK workers to take part in day-long fast
Coimbatore, Nov 23. (PTI): MDMK workers and party MPs and MLAs will take part in a day-long fast in New Delhi on November 27 to protest Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapakse’s visit to India.
He said the possibility of war breaking out in the island nation could not be ruled out as hundreds of Tamils there and in Tamil Nadu were seriouly concerned at the killings, including those in orphanages and refugee camps, Vaiko said.
“The killings have exposed the real face of Sri Lanka before the international community,” Vaiko said.
