It's been less than a month since the announcement of US pullout, and Talibans have reached the outskirts of Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan lol. Eventually they will overrun the current Afghan regime and the likes of Abdul rasheed dostum will flee to Europe or somewhere else to escape revenge, the revenge for "dasht-i-laila massacre" in which some 2k Taliban prisoners were suffocated to death in metal containers in December 2001.
Pakistan needs to stay away from all this drama. We don't need to be human or women rights champions lol. We need to see our interests first and technically taliban gov in kabul will be beneficial for us since nationalist afgan govs have always been anti-pak unlike Talibans who respected durend line during their rule and I am sure under taliban rule, Pakistan can uproot the whole network of bloach insurgents operating from Afghan soil.

Agree that we should stay away. But staying away means not supporting the Taliban either. We should kick out the Quetta shura and the Haqqani network and get ISI to stop all its support for the Taliban.

All of this talk is premised on the assumption that Americans are leaving. I do not believe that for one second because things just do not add up. Afghanistan is a natural fortress and the US has not gone bankrupt yet. Having bases inside Afghanistan gives the US a strategic edge to pursue its objectives against Russia, China, Pakistan and Iran all the while being at their doorstep. Last US combat death in Afghanistan was in Feb 2020. Several NATO countries in Afghanistan have paid protection money and their troops were not touched, so if US lands a similar deal they could become buddies in an instant. It will be a fraction of what they spend on fighting. Don’t get me wrong, I want the US to withdraw 100%, but I don’t want Pakistani policymakers to make premature assumptions as they did back in 2001.
With the technological advancements and satellites hovering all over the world and nuclear subs around every threat does not make sense to invest geographically, that is the reason they are divesting and are apathetic to aftermath. They read Saudis the riot act, implicated Turks in the Armenian Genocide and as such uninterested. Also they took the prize of Indian loyalty, which is close to being a superpower and would not cost them with a war.
Next war will not be soldiers tanks, it would be satellites and subs annihilating and controlled by AI.

I think Pakistan should try to negotiate the release of Aafia Siddiqui one more time. Or at least tell the public what does the US want in return if a deal is not possible.
The Afghan official called Pakistan a brothel house and is upset with Pakistan over its dealings with Taliban. I think Pak is making a pact to support the Afghan govt, if that is true the Taliban will turn on them and may cause havok in Pak. Aafia made a choice to be a terrorist and a combatant. Why should Pak invest in her release?
Afghanistan’s Hamdullah Muhib’s angry outburst against Pakistan gave me a strange sense of relief. Poor guy is seeing his imaginary world crumbling all around. His countrymen see him as a traitor while his handlers don’t need his services anymore. Makes me wonder if he is going to apply for asylum in India and is trying to make them happy.
As far as Afia Siddiqui is concerned, most Pakistanis don’t agree with your characterization and want to see her released. That’s why Pakistan should try to negotiate a deal for her release one more time. Or at least get some concessions for her, such as spending the rest of her sentence in house arrest in Pakistan. Otherwise let the public know what the US is asking in return if a deal is not possible.

Okay for the sake of the argument let’s suppose afia was a combatant and US captured her from Taliban camps at Tora Bora lol, so what? Was not Raymond Davis a murderer? And still US gov went on to get him released from our Jail? We should do the same and should not leave our daughter at enemies’ place. If your daughter commits a crime in alberta and gets slapped 80 years jail term, will you disown her ? Or will you strive hard to get her released?
The fact is, she was never a combatant and was kidnapped from Karachi Pakistan.
