Taliban no more terrorists?

Re: Taliban no more terrorists?

So Talibans are not your enemies anymore? please say yes or no.

Re: Taliban no more terrorists?

Yep, targets changed, priorities change, diapers change too. BTW, please read the history, Taliban offered handing over AlQaida leadership to a neutral country for trial :chai:

Are Taliban still not hunting US marines/military-men in Afghanistan?

Better quality? Like living without one limb?

Re: Taliban no more terrorists?

won what Captain1? Let's assess shall we?

In the last 2 to3 years alone:

  • Pak relations with the nations of the world has become one of isolation, distrust
  • Within the Pak nation thousands have been bombed
  • Pak economy is in ruins
  • Pak political governance has tanked
  • Pak military has been clearly proven as rogue with the OBL & similar exposures
  • Pak has summarily lost its prime friend, aid giver & technology supplier - USA & is hoping China will take that place

Does that feel like Pakistan has won?

Like in any violent conflict, THERE CANNOT BE ANY WINNERS

Re: Taliban no more terrorists?

Although female education is no doubt more widely available than under the Taliban, my understanding is that the judicial system has deteriorated considerably compared to the Taliban era. The Afghan National Police (ANP) have a reputation for being massively corrupt, with judges little better.

Access to fast and fair judgement is critical to gaining the loyalty of people and is one of the major factors in how they perceive their own quality of life.. It is a shame that ISAF did not learn from the lesson of the Swat in Pakistan, where one of the factors that made the local people invite the Pakistani Taliban was a disillusionment with the perceived slowness of Pakistan's legal system.

The single most effective thing that ISAF could have done in Afghanistan to improve life for Afghans would have been to create a well-paid, honest police force and a fair and corruption-free judicial system. Instead Afghans have been left with a situation where those trusted to protect them are the ones who take advantage of them, and this cannot end well for the interests of all foreign stakeholders in Afghanistan, both in its direct neighbourhood and further afield.

Re: Taliban no more terrorists?

I only concluded based on your own 'assessment', now you can change your goal posts to where you like.

Re: Taliban no more terrorists?

well I hope now you understand you concluded wrong.

Re: Taliban no more terrorists?

Not really, the conclusion still stands. Pakistan won on the stance about Taliban and US had to give up theirs. Understood? Now you can add 1 million more goal posts and claim Pakistan won this many, US won this many, Taliban won this many..... etc, but that specific conclusion remains.

Re: Taliban no more terrorists?

Then perhaps they should stop using timeless and absolutist rhetoric to justify their missions, and focus on practical realities. Or does the military think so little of the public's intelligence?

Mullah Omar has thusfar been described in irredeemable terms. Analogs to WWII, and references to Nazis were made. This was meant to be a movement that could not be lived with.

Now, when America decides to go after another group of people...perhaps Korean, perhaps Iranian...who knows, how readily will people drink the kool aid? Far too many, I'm afraid.

Re: Taliban no more terrorists?

Yeah - sure Taliban are now good Taliban and I am Bill Clintons great grand daddy, Sala Centcom has no shame

Judge: Iran, Taliban, al Qaeda liable for 9/11

Re: Taliban no more terrorists?

The rhetoric from Amreekis (like CENTCOM guy here) is plain BS. Everyone knows it.
Reality is that Might is Right. It has been true throughout history and it is true today.

We can show Amreeki hypocrisy all we want but in the end we have no power to stop Amreeki terrorism.

Re: Taliban no more terrorists?

Iran? Judge is on crack.

Re: Taliban no more terrorists?

though its very tempting to answer the false propaganda of this so called CENTCOM, and i do quote him sometimes, but talking to this thing is a waste of time. they copy past same text on different forums and never give any answer, only posts pre-written stuff.

Re: Taliban no more terrorists?

^agreed and they assume that every word uttered by usa is fact and other media as propoganda.....

Re: Taliban no more terrorists?

I realize you have to stick to your so called 'stance' as anyother approach such as reasoning will force admissions about Pakistan that you guys cannot handle. Happens.

Re: Taliban no more terrorists?

It can happen to those who can't bear success in any form for their enemies. My conclusion was for that particular 'goal' you highlighted initially, seeing 'won' in my post you assumed that I extended that 'won' to the whole conflict, there you made the first 3 letters of assume of yourself. Now you can scratch the pole, change the goals all you want, be my guest.

Re: Taliban no more terrorists?

U.S. Hopes to Continue Talks with Taliban in 2012

Published December 30, 2011| Associated Press

WASHINGTON – U.S. and Afghan officials say the Obama administration hopes to restore momentum this spring to U.S. talks with the Taliban insurgency that had reached a critical point before falling apart this month.

The officials told The Associated Press that talks and two key trust-building initiatives with the Taliban are on hold because of objections from Afghan President Hamid Karzai.

**Those measures were a Taliban headquarters office and the release from the U.S. military prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, of approximately five Afghan prisoners considered affiliated with the Taliban.
**
A U.S. official says one goal of renewed talks would be to identify cease-fire zones that could be used as a stepping-stone toward a full peace agreement. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because the talks are sensitive.

now who is ass.uming?

anyway this is getting to be a rhetorical waste of time, so enjoy and be well

Re: Taliban no more terrorists?

^ same to you.

Re: Taliban no more terrorists?

At the end of the day the ones who lose are the Afghan people. Having the Taliban come back to power is not a good idea for anybody and certainly doesn't bode well for the women and girls of Afghanistan.
