Taliban no more terrorists?

Won’t be surprised if Taliban become “Mujhahideen” in coming months.

For now, FBI has removed the name of Mullah Omer from the most wanted list.
In other words, he is no more terrorist…

Badalta hay Aasmaan rang kaisay kaisay…

Mullah Omar no more on FBI wanted list
According to Dunya News, the US had set 10 million dollars as head money to provide information about Mullah Omar, but now, his name has been removed from the list of most wanted persons and from FBI’s website.

According to the sources, the US took this step to pave the way to hold talks with Taliban.

The FI’s most wanted persons lis also includes names of present Al-Qaeda chief Ayman Zawahiri and head of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Taliban chief Hakimullah Mehsood.

Re: Taliban no more terrorists?

From invasion to head money, to ‘not our enemy’ to clearing name from terrorist list, bravo bravo :k:

Re: Taliban no more terrorists?

11 years ago:

VOA: Do you know that the US has announced a war on terrorism?

Omar: I am considering two promises. One is the promise of God, the other is that of Bush. The promise of God is that my land is vast. If you start a journey on God’s path, you can reside anywhere on this earth and will be protected… The promise of Bush is that there is no place on earth where you can hide that I cannot find you. We will see which one of these two promises is fulfilled.

interesting…

Re: Taliban no more terrorists?

by the way, this should be in World Affairs

Re: Taliban no more terrorists?

Waiting for Centcom to come and give "explanation" of how Mullah Omar is now an angel.

Re: Taliban no more terrorists?

Taliban never was America’s enemy. It was Qaeda and Osama. And now that Qaeda is weakened and Osama sent to Hell, America has no interest in bringing “freedom” and “liberty” to Afghan people.

This is why Imran and his affiliates are wrong in saying that it is America’s war. Actually, it is Pakistan’s and Afghanistan’s war against Taliban and affiliates.

Re: Taliban no more terrorists?

Did US called Mullah Omar an "angel"?
What I understand is that America is saying that it is no longer interested in capturing Mullah Omar.

Re: Taliban no more terrorists?

That’s true. America has its own priorities which change with time.

Re: Taliban no more terrorists?

Why arent they interested or are they now acknowledging their failure to capture one of the leading terrorist? How come ?

Re: Taliban no more terrorists?

leaving ruins of other countries behind.

Re: Taliban no more terrorists?

Let's assume this is true. What does that really mean?

  • USA has finally understood that Pakistan will no longer do their bidding
  • Pakistani leaders (civilian AND military) have finally understood that Pakistani public will not tolerate anymore 'do more'
  • Pakistan wants USA to let them be their intermediary in dealing with Taleban
  • USA has learnt the hard way that using Pakistan as intermediary means Pakistani interests will come first
  • There i sno0 such thing as a clear Pakistani interest which USA can figure into their budget - because the military Pakistan, the government Pakistan, the islamic Pakistan and the people Pakistan all have different interests
  • Therefore it makes much better business case to simply deal directly with the Taleban
  • Any deal struck between USA and Taleban will obviously put USA interest first, Taleban interest second and Afghan interest third

BTW it should also be noted this is not a brand new strategy designed in response to Pakistani non-cooperation. The approach to taleban was made made almost 2 years ago - Pakistani military absolutely resisted US-TAleban direct reaproachment and ao this had always been a plan-B. Now I guess it becomes plan A

Re: Taliban no more terrorists?

YAY! The men responsible for shedding the blood of american soldiers are no longer on terrorists. Well done.

Re: Taliban no more terrorists?

nice way to cover up America’s failings in Afghanistan

Re: Taliban no more terrorists?

Cool, so essentially you are saying Pakistan won and US lost??

Re: Taliban no more terrorists?

It's not America's problem. It looks for its own interests alone ... just like everyone else.
Except for Israel, America is neither our friend nor enemy. Similar to China etc. It's just the game of interests.

America came here only in pursuit of Qaeda. It didn't care at all about Taliban or Afghans. As soon as Soviets left, America had totally ignored Afghanistan ... until the time that Qaeda under Taliban started planning against it.

Re: Taliban no more terrorists?

That is not what Bush said. He said the Taliban were the enemy as well. Look at any of his old statements.

Re: Taliban no more terrorists?

Americans are losing interest (and money) in Afghanistan. There is no point spending time and effort in a place which is not as much a threat to the US anymore as it used to be.
After destruction of Qaeda in Afghanistan and killing of Osama, there is not much America there wants at this moment.

About failure. If they can find out about Osama then they can find him out as well. Osama was a bigger fish to fry. Taking his name out is just a matter of priorities.

Re: Taliban no more terrorists?

Good points but not relevant. The point is simple. The americans went in to destory the Taliban and Al Qaeda. Now they are making peace with the men that kill Americans on a daily basis. What does that prove?

Re: Taliban no more terrorists?

If taliban r not their enemy why was mulla omar on their list of most wanted terrorist?

To make their list of most wanted more impressive:D

Re: Taliban no more terrorists?

The people who have killed thousands of American soldiers are taleban. And now they are making peace with them, this is nothing but hypocrisy. They have been asking Pakistan to do operations against the same people with whom they wanted to make peace all along.
