Taliban kidnap Bharati engineer: Not good for anyone

Talibans kidnapped a Bharati engineer and are now threatening to execute him. In the recent past, they have kidnapped two Bharati workers.

No matter what the cause may be, kidnapping and killing an innocent man is against the norms of every religion, society, or culture.

If this engineer is killed, it will further prove that Taliban are good-for- nothing Afghanis who have already brought so much shame to the region, to their religion, and above all the Pushtoon principles of hospitality.

I hope and pray that they would release this man so he could join his family.

Re: Taliban kidnap Bharati engineer: Not good for anyone

Really terrible, I do hope they release all the innocents. They should not follow the example of America holding hostages at Gitmo. That really brings shame to the Americans and to their religion and above all the American principles of hospitality.

Re: Taliban kidnap Bharati engineer: Not good for anyone

The Taliban are applying the same principles as the Iraqi Insurgents use...

which means the ISI assessment is right

once USA loses interest in Afghanistan, once ties between the taliban remnants and al-qaida are gone, Taliban will either take over afghanistan or be a major political force

much like lebanon today with Hezbollah still entrenched in the Bekaa valley

Re: Taliban kidnap Bharati engineer: Not good for anyone

Sad news. F*** ing Taliban Killed the engineer when he tried to escape.

Re: Taliban kidnap Bharati engineer: Not good for anyone

oh...

sad news indeed....

:(

Re: Taliban kidnap Bharati engineer: Not good for anyone

This is very sad and unacceptable.

Re: Taliban kidnap Bharati engineer: Not good for anyone

I am kind of wondering about this Afghani hospitality. It wasn’t long ago that a Canadian soldier was killed after meeting the Afghani elders on a good-will visit. IT is now admitted that so called elders had arranged for an ambush beforehand. This has happened many times. Pushtun hospitality, crap.

Taliban wants Indians out of Afghanistan

Now that they have killed an innocent Indian engineer, Should India bring back all Indians from Afghanistan. Indians have been building schools and hospitals after the fall of Taliban. Indians have pledged $600m altogether on infrastructure, telecoms, health, education, humanitarian assistance, institutions - a whole cross section and now it has to be seen whether Taliban would force them out.

Taliban demand Indians quit Afghanistan

KANDAHAR: Taliban insurgents on Saturday threatened to kill a kidnapped Indian telecommunications worker unless Indians left Afghanistan.

The Indian and his Afghan driver were kidnapped after gunmen stopped their car on a road in the volatile southern province of Zabul on Friday. The Taliban claimed to have kidnapped him. “If India does not pull out all its nationals working in Afghanistan by 6pm (1330 GMT) tomorrow (Sunday), we’re going to kill him,” said Qari Mohammad Yousuf, the Taliban spokesman, by telephone from an undisclosed location. Yousuf said the Indian was a US spy.

Police reinforcements had been sent to Zabul to help with the hunt for the Indian and his driver, said Gulab Shah Alikhail, spokesman for the governor of Zabul. “By the grace of God, we’ll find him soon safe and sound,” said Alikhail.

He declined to comment on the Taliban demand and threat to kill the Indian, a contract worker for Afghan telecommunications company Roshan.

India has close relations with Afghanistan and is involved in numerous aid and reconstruction projects. India was collaborating with Afghanistan on the kidnap, an Indian government official said in New Delhi. Militants have kidnapped aid agency staff and foreign company workers, who the Taliban say are supporting the Western-backed government. Some have been released but several, including Turks and Indians, have been killed.

In a separate incident on Saturday, two Taliban were killed when government troops attacked a Taliban hideout in the volatile southern province of Helmand, a commander said. reuters.

Re: Taliban kidnap Bharati engineer: Not good for anyone

This is worst form of crime happening....... soon this thread will turn into excuses and justification. Nobody will agree that Taliban has hijacked Islam and using it for violent purposes..........

Re: Taliban kidnap Bharati engineer: Not good for anyone

it's Afghanis.. why can't we call it: Afghanis killed an Indian Engineer? Talibans are Afghanis too u know..

this was coming.. okhli maiN sur dya to moosloN say kya dar..

Re: Taliban kidnap Bharati engineer: Not good for anyone

I dont know whether the thread will soon turn into excuses but it is already being turned into the typical balme Islam for everything. Taliban are Afghanis and why cant we say Afghanis killed the engineer.

Re: Taliban kidnap Bharati engineer: Not good for anyone

"taliban has 'hijacked' islam" means the fault is being pointed towards taliban, not islam. Blame clearly falls on taliban and none else, no matter to what religion they belong. The whole of afghanistan is not responsible for this.

Re: Taliban kidnap Bharati engineer: Not good for anyone

^ OK Taliban killed him, than why bring Islam into it. If Afghanistan cannot be held responsiblefor what one party did why point towards Islam. It is the old game of blame by association.

Re: Taliban kidnap Bharati engineer: Not good for anyone

ok....we better stop associating taliban with any religion, then it should be better, i hope i am right.

Re: Taliban kidnap Bharati engineer: Not good for anyone

i saw his family on tv - they were all crying and pleading for his life. :bummer: IS india gonna pull out now??

Re: Taliban kidnap Bharati engineer: Not good for anyone

Tragic end, but his fate was sealed when he was kidnapped. Why should India withdraw from Afghanistan? Did America withdraw from Pakistan when it's diplomat and journalist were killed?

Re: Taliban kidnap Bharati engineer: Not good for anyone

monkey see. monkey do.

Re: Taliban kidnap Bharati engineer: Not good for anyone

A very sly and underhanded move by bharat with the aim to cause:

  1. The questioning of the legitimacy of the taliban government. *]A convenient excuse to bring in further "security" personell.

Re: Taliban kidnap Bharati engineer: Not good for anyone

i don’t even understand this concept of “withdrawal”. it’s not like the indian army is stationed in afghanistan and engaged in operations against the taliban.

indian “engagement” is exclusively civilian nationals (engineers, aid workers, etc.) working on urban development and infrastructure projects on behalf of the afghan people.

even this telecom engineer that was beheaded was an employee of a bahraini company…and that too, developing a mobile phone network for afghanistan, not fighting the taliban.

what is india supposed to “withdraw” and why?

this just goes to show how incredibly desperate the taliban has gotten. forget about US soldiers…they have to resort to murdering Indian telecom engineers. how cowardly can they get?

Re: Taliban kidnap Bharati engineer: Not good for anyone

why should we question talibans legitimacy?....when the whole world is questioning it. Even pakistan is questioning it.

for security you wrote know...i am dead against indian army or indian security personel going out of india. i dont think india is going to send it's army there, when it not willing to send it to nepal. I hope india doesn't send it's army anywhere barring UN missions in africa.....Ofcourse under the banner of United Nations.
