Yaar, its obvious what we DONT want... We dont want the system of Islam being implimented in FATA by the Taliban. I can go down the list of things that we DONT want in Pakistan...
For the militants, this is an ideological struggle, for the govt it may not be... For me, and im sure for many liberals in Pakistan, this is a struggle for the identity of Islam and its place in Pakistan. Any relatively relgious person, who isnt an extreme fundamentalist will agree that this is a struggle within Islam against the moderate liberals and extrmeist fundamentlaists...
With all due respect, Islam is in no need of identity. What's corrupted is the state of individuals' understanding and ability to practice it as per doctrine. The other problem arises, when under such a state of Muslims, number of political forces are trying to shove their creed in the form of regulations, coupled with swaggering foreigners' mandate under pressure. Therefore, it goes back to reviving the fundamental principles and practices amongst Muslims such as Iman and Yaqeen, and Salat with devotion..more than anything.
