For the first time, TTP have announced ceasefire since their as*es are on fire. What do you guys think?
PESHAWAR: Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has announced a month-long ceasefire with the Pakistani government. The Taliban’s decision was confirmed by TTP spokesman Shahidullah Shahid.

one month is a very loooong time, and it would be interesting to see their control on other taliban outfits which might not subscribe to this call.

Taliban are traitors. What we need is announcement from the government that any Taliban captured will be brought to summary military courts, and any group of party supporting them be banned.

One more month before the inevitable happens. I have no doubt in my mind that talks will eventually fail. Nevertheless, I would want to exhaust this option fully before moving from the negotiating table to the battleground.

There is nothing called one month cease fire, either it is permanent cease fire or it either it is not, to me these are measures from taliban since they didn't knew that Pakistan can use air-power and other ground tactics against them and for the 1st time they have been on receiving side and have been pinned... govt/army should not fall for it, they should continue unless these scums gives in.
This "One-Month" package is to give reason to bark at army and govt policies towards negotiation and again divide the public opinion against the taliban which has turned against them since their barbaric act of last month. I hope now likes of Sheikh Rasheed, Diesel, IK and others again do not start putting pressure on govt to halt the strikes in order to give so-called peace another chance..
There is no cease fire in this kind of war-fare, all they want is to prepare for air-strikes, re-locate themselves inside Pakistan and/or shift to safer areas and then commence their activities again.
Anyone who is in favor of this ONE-MONTH cease fire should tell us, why for one month only??? what is after that????? and since we have them on run, why should we stop and if we stop what would be our achievement or benefit????

Shall we really be worrying about the regrouping of the TTP in one month? Will they gain enough strength in 30 days to turn the tables on the state? Mujhey nahi lagta 
A state does not act like a happy-go-lucky teenager. Islamabad cannot stoop to the lows of the TTP. It cannot act like a blood-thirsty beast. Despite incurring huge blows due to its inefficiencies, the state should act in good faith and try to make the most of this opportunity.
I hope TTP also knows what is at stake from its end. They should know it clearly that they have already pushed the state against the wall. The state can only retaliate from this point.

Shahidullah Shaahid received an email yesterday from a shipment company in Afghanistan informing him that it will take a month for the shipment of mujaahideen and arms to arrive.
his decisions are based on latest info from the shipment company. :D

I dont believe these kaffirs, not a word they say. The air force has been whipping them recently and they want to regroup. Should we allow them? Only today they killed polio workers, how can you take these pigs seriously.

This ceasefire is only for public consumption since they saw real face of TTP when they killed the 23 FC while talks were in the process, so now they want to 'show' that they are 'sincere'. But we all know this is just a drama. If they really are sincere then they must hand over TTP members and the leaders involved in killing of the 23 FC.

Agree with Captain here...TTP is using PR tactic to show they are sincere. They have never been sincere. This cease-fire would allow them to be re-grouped. I would never trust them.

if TTP can regroup in a month, so can the army - plan, strategize, etc. after all the army has way more resources and stands to benefit more from a ceasefire to come back blazing fully prepared and planned. problem is TTP isnt sincere about talks, PA isnt sincere about fighting and are just biding time until the US pulls out.

IK, PMLN, JI, JUI ...all pro taliban voices who were quiet and were under-pressure amid barbaric taliban acts in last few weeks are now vouching for taliban again.....our shameless public (read masses in punjab) who always has sympathetic feelings for taliban will again be vouching for negotiations with taliban....i feel USA will lose patience and will start drone attacks after almost 3 months of break and it will provide enough ammunition to IK and Ch Nisar to blame US fo eveything and provide a clean check to taliban

While the talks are doomed to die, I fear that the onus of the inevitable failure would be laid at the door of the government from PTI, JI and JUI. Nawaz Sharif should try to take Imran, Munawar Hasan and Fazlur Rahman fully on board so that they do not exploit the likely collapse of talkes for political motives.
