Im bit unsure of posting this cuz i feel bit dumb in asking this cuz its embarrassing but i have to…
I am on the pill and have been for 2 years. Inshallah me and my hubby are planning for a family next year. I am planning to come off the pill in April 08 - how long does it usually take to become pregnant? I asked the doc and she said that because my periods were regular, there shouldnt be any delay and should only take a month or 2 but im bit unsure. Ok this is the embarrassing part…she also told me that when i do come off the pill, we should use other means of precautions - can i ask why? If you are trying to become pregnant, then why? I want to come off in April cuz i want to go on Umrah inshallah. I have this vision in my mind that i want our baby to hear the azaans and everything when in Makkah and Medina inshallah…
So any ladies who have been in this situation - i would really appreciate your help!! Strangely, since the beginning of the year,i have already started reading books and watching programmes - as disgusting this may sound - but you gotta do what you gotta do…
Normally there shouldnt be any delay but the egg is ready for 3 days in a month, so have to have the right timing, so it might not work right away.
The first 3 months are quite hard, especially if you suffer from nausea & morning sickness, should it not be better to be pregnant after your trip??
you dont need any other precautions if you are planning a baby, maybe she meant afterwards the baby is born. You cannot take pills if you will
be nursing.
Do start takeing folic acid, you can start in january 2008.
I think it depends from person to person. The first time I got pregnant, I came off the pill in Sept and was pregnant the following month (everything was regular in those days!)
The reason they tell you to take other precautions is to have at least one natural period....this is purely so that the date of the pregnancy can be confirmed etc.
But I didn't even have one period!
Good Luck and may Allah SWT fulfill your desires. Make duas for all others too who are wanting to become parents.
Thankyou Saadia for ur reply. I have heard that if your mum didnt have morning sickness then you dont either. So inshallah i am hoping that is true!?! I will not be travelling in the first 3months - but this is something we havent confirmed. My husband loved the idea for going on umrah inshallah when i am pregnant and even if we do, it will be in the 2nd semester...
Also inshallah, i will taking folic acid asap next year.
WBM - For some reason, i like reading your replies! Mashallah you are so lucky that you fell pregnant straightaway. Some people are not so lucky and takes a long time. Please also pray for me - i know its next year but i pray to God that everything works out inshallah.
One of my friends got pregnant almost immediately after coming off the pill. The precaution may have been to get the hormones and effects of the pill out of your system, so as not to have any detrimental side effects for the child -- like wait a few weeks before trying.
Yes, it’s taking me a very long time, I have no children yet…but Insha allah, I am going to make so much dua during this blessed month…May Allah SWT grant us all happy, healthy children with long and fulfilled lives (ameen)

Yes, I did get pregnant straight after coming off the pill in Sept 2001, but lost the baby at 16 weeks through miscarriage and then followed another miscarriage in May 2002.
Make dua for me that I become a mum soon (or even more than that, that I can make my husband an abbu jaan soon)

i am so sorry to hear that. May Allah Tallah make all your duas come true and i hope inshallah everything works out for everyone in this situation.
I feel like you are going to become one hell of a yummy mummy inshallah!
Insha Allah we should all pray for all our muslim brothers and sisters to be granted happy, healthy children with long and fulfilled lives.
And this is not just for those like me who have suffered loss, but also for all those yet to begin trying for a child, even for all those yet to be married......because I wouldn't wish this pain on anyone.
May Allah SWT help us all achieve our desires and wishes and bless us with eternal happiness and good fortune....
