Re: Taking the Pill and getting pregnant?
hey i guys i need a help here. Actually im getting married in November InshAllah and i wanna wait for sometime for a baby. But im really confused regarding the pills, i've heard from numerous peeps arnd that its harmful and its has side effects. Once u stop takin it , its hard to conceive! If not pill then wat other precautions can i take. I've also heard that there are some safe days when there isn't any need to take precaution.is it true?!if yes then how can one calculate those days?
Re: Taking the Pill and getting pregnant?
^ That's called the rhythm method, and people still conceive when practicing it. Condoms are fairly safe and reliable.

Please don't be worried. Taking the pill doesn't automatically mean that you will either find it hard to conceive or have a miscarriage.
I hope my story hasn't made you feel this way..........:(

Re: Taking the Pill and getting pregnant?
The pill has not been shown to cause infertility or miscarriage in any way. When you're on the pill, your cycle still continues as does the production of hormones that you need to ensure a successful pregnancy. There ARE other birth control methods (like the Depo-Provera shot) that fool around with fertility and hormone production and those CAN interfere with fertilty. (Been thru that myself). Stay away from those long-term methods that prevent the monthly cycles and the shot that lasts 3 months and INshallah you'll be fine. The pill has been in use since the 1960s so its well known that it doesnt have adverse affects...the other types are much newer and HAVE been shown to cause infertility or (as the drug companies try to tell you), there MAY be a delay in the return to fertility grrrr!!!
Rhythm method: On the day that your menses starts, count as day "1". Women typically release a fertile egg between day 10 and day 14. The egg lives for 24 hours - so if there are sperm around when the egg is alive, your chance of conception is very high on those days. It is not exact since some women release an egg on day 8 or 9 and some as late as day 16. Sperm can live for up to 3 days...so that adds another dimension to the possible days of conception - ie., you have sex on day 7 so swimmers are alive till day 10.
There are now over-the-counter ovulation kits that can tell you much more precisely when you are about to ovulate. So if you're serious about avoiding birth control or want to more precisely plan for a pregnancy, use a kit for a couple of months to get an idea of what day your egg is released.
Hope this isnt too graphic!!
Re: Taking the Pill and getting pregnant?
Yes, I did get pregnant straight after coming off the pill in Sept 2001, but lost the baby at 16 weeks through miscarriage and then followed another miscarriage in May 2002.
Make dua for me that I become a mum soon (or even more than that, that I can make my husband an abbu jaan soon)
I feel your pain and loss, you may already know this but make sure nettime the classify you as a high risk pregnancy due to two losses, it would mean more regular monitoring and better care.
InshaAllah in a few years your nick would be wanna-get-some-sleep-without-these-monkeys-jumping-on-the-bed :)

just a simple condom is not enough, sometimes a rupture can cause pregnancy, so try to ue medicated condoms coz in case of any damage they r spermicide.
