Yes, this is all about alcohol, not shooting darts.
My roommate’s cousin is visiting our hole, so my roommie decided to tour her around cocounut grove last night - today it is south beach. They got home at 3:15, and I was asleep the minute I closed my eyes at 3:00 am. So our conversation at 10:30 goes something like this:
Me: “Hey! How was it?”
Them: slight drowsy smile. “Yeah…it was okay.”
Me: “Well what did you do? Did you get into the clubs?”
Them: “Nah…line was too long. We decided to go to bars instead. Tried out some different drinks.”
Me: “And…?”
Them: “That’s about it.”
I don’t get it. I know that people go for drinking because it helps wipe their troubles away (momentarily). But I really just don’t get the point though. What is the point of going out and drinking? Its not that fun. I’d rather do something adventurous. To think that Saturday upon Saturday, these people just drink. How much time in your life are you wasting by just drinking. Surely, there is more interesting stuff to do?
You can do all you want on a Saturday night without getting drunk or bizzed or just having a drink. For once PCG note the time and date for the record :D ], I agree with PCG.
Sorry but no matter how cool some people think drinking is, I am not putting alcohol in my body.
Its not even that its harmful...its more like ... do people do it because its socially the "cool" thing to do?
That's kinda shallow.
I mean, I know some of these drinks look pretty...but if your free time revolves usually invovles just going to a bar...that's kinda sad. Surely there has to be loads of other things one can do for fun.
I dunno. If I go to south beach, its for the waters and shopping and watching weird people roam around. You'll find all kinds of characters there. But to go to south beach only to get drunk? Or just to drink, even if you're not getting drunk?
I dont see the appeal.
I mean, its no different than buying cartons of orange juice, cranberry juice, grapefruit juice, and various other juices, and playing around with making new juice mixes. Now, if I told you that's what I plan on doing saturday night, you'd probably think I'm nuts.
ofcourse if you told normal people that you planned to spend sunday mornings on an online forum they wouldnt feel so bad about wasting their night drinking :-)
ofcourse talking on an online forum isnt likely to get you branded by hellfire arrows and brimstone and all that good stuff after you die (unless you're madhanee) :)
hey hey. at least I'm online while working on my powerpoints. If this were a random free sunday (as if I have those anymore), I'd be at the beach where I belong.
what do people do at the beach anyway. its just sand and sea. i used to live a mile from the beach and never knew what to do there.
hm. does anyone else ever feel afraid of being alone at the beach at dusk with nobody around and seeing someone drowning and calling for help way in the distance?
^ I was at the beach today, it's lovely...so many people, fresh air, vibey atmosphere...and good chicken tikka (yes we even have Pakistani restaurants on the beach front).
As for drinking as a hobby/sport, I won't understand it myself, as my friends use to live for drinking and used to look forward to the weekends just for this purpose.
Highlight of a gora person’s week is getting pissed, I feel so sorry for them coz they have no life.
It’s their main hobby, drinking! Kind of lame, whether it’s going out or staying in everything revolves around drinking and sometimes sex.
I have white friends always inviting me round for a lads night in saying they’ve got so many crates of beers or spirits and I appreciate them asking but I turn it down saying “what’s the thrill in that?” they say “*** you’re only saying that coz you’re not allowed it, I say "true but (regretfully) I’ve done lots of things I shouldn’t have, if drinking appealed to me I’d do it too but it doesn’t, just the smell of alcohol gets me nauseous and the way it looks like a pint of urine.” :yukh:
I’ve been to places in Europe and it’s not such a big deal, they enjoy a drink now and then but it’s not their life like it is here in Britain, probably coz their not as depressed and miserable as our lot, their ways are very family orientated and social like Paki style and active lifestyles so they’ve happy content lives even without the booze.
