Stop flirting :bailan:

5 years ago I was 40. (seems really really old huh?)

Was senior exec for billion dollar healthcare company.

Had 150,000 miles on my frequent flyer on one airline in one year. travelled 4 days a week, never saw my family.

Company got bought out. Cashed out stock options. Told them to take job and shove it.

Learned carpentry and construction. Am renovating houses and selling them. Work with my hands most days and get to see my family everyday. Much better.

Never know how your life will change. :)

OG, im curious, how did you find about this forum?

Right after 9/11, I wanted to learn more about "muslim" community. Not speaking Arabic, Pakistani's were easier to communicate with, and (with a few notable exceptions) are quite well spoken and well educated. Found Gupshup by random luck....

Good for you :flower1:
(that’s an Oprah story btw  )

What is an Ohio guy doing in Rhode Island?. Now don’t ask me what a fun guy is doing at Gupshup :hoonh:

Oh siht OG. I thought you were like 75 or something. You are still a young buck. Don't sell out to Home depot man. Sell out to Hippa.

Ohio is a great place to be FROM!

Job took me out here, and my daughter was born and raised here. When she graduates from High School I will be going to FLA. Weather here is MUCH better than Cleveland, but not a single sports team and very long winters.

but Midwesterners are generally very nice people, with simple values and good dispostions. New Englanders tend to be pretty cold and stuffy. I relate better to people from "The Heartland". Thus Ohioguy....

OG, building houses is my dream job! Only if Matsui will finance my small business, but you know them darn Indians. Maybe I will take it up when I am 40.

You got that right, Mr Buckeye! I am from the windy city and I know exactly what you mean by midwestern personality. Great people to live with.

And by the way, don't go any south than Boca Raton, FL. I've lived in Miami/Ft Lauderdale for a few years and it just don't cut it for us heartlanders. It is too cubic.

Building houses is way cool. Had to learn it all myself, as all my father taught me how to do was cuss and throw tools!

Took me 3 years to renovate my house here in Newport, just sold it. moving to a smaller house and will turn that one into a rental, and move to a historic house we bought in FLA.

Building and renovating things is one way for white guys with no artistic talent whatsoever to create something.....

And, you get to walk around with gigantic tools hanging off your belt, and look studly.....

Funguy----I lived in Wheaton for three years. During the time of the riots at the Democratic National convention! Almost went to high school with Jim Belushi.....

Go back 5 years in ur life.<<

Where were you?
What were ur dreams?

ooooh bad time in my life i was in high school, hated although had sum good times!
my dream was my family being proud and happy with me i wanted to make my parents proud of me and so wanted to becum a lawyer for their "izzat"!!

and today..........things are very different,
i realised that its never gna work like that, how can i spend my life making other people happy even if it is my dad/family, i was not happy myself and i realised that is the foremost thing i can only make others happy if i am,
after failing law a-level i thought hard about wat i want and i decided to study psychology to help children especially, i worked hard and didnt care that my father didnt want me doing it, and now alhamdolillah im studying psychology at uni! and i know wat i want in life.

although my dreams of becoming a child psychologist are far i know Inshallah they can and will be achieved.
