So my dadi came back from Pakistan and surprised me by bringing my nikkah outfit. When I was checking out the dupatta I saw that the kaam on the border got very thick and extended in the center. She told me this is a new riwaaj called a “taj” dupatta where there is more work on the center of the dupatte where it rests on your head. I haven’t been to any weddings where i’ve seen it placed like this , I have two pictures, and I am at a loss as to how this will be set and how it will look.
Do you guys have any experience with such a dupatta, and if so how did you get it pinned, any pics would be GREATLY appreciated. I talked to a makeup artist who also does dupatta setting and she said we would jsut have to put my hair up really high so that the dupatta can set on it properly.
^ My jora’s dupatta looks like that last one except mine is white and gold
Help please!
All I can say is that looks very pretty. I think I have seen this style in pictures. Yes, your make up artist is right about having a high updo for the kaam to have an impact.
I had a similar style of dupatta and honestly, didn't like it too much. The only thing I'll tell you is to avoid having pictures taken from the back because they come out looking really weird, almost as if you have an alien head.
Can you show a pic please? If you dont mind. I'm just trying to get an andaaza of how it will look. Was your dupatta very stiff? If you could show it from the back like you were saying I'd really appreciate it
Awesome! thanks for those pics, especially the last one. I’m at a loss as to how to keep it on my head cuz that part is so heavy. Bobby pins? Please keep the links coming it helps a lot, especially when I can see the back of the head and see how they adjusted it
The make up artist should be able to do the pins herself. I didn't like the picture with teh kaam on the side of the head but on top of the high bun it looks really elegant.
yeaa ive herd of taj dupattas.. recently i was in southall at punjab textiles (who do amazing clothes) and one of the ladies showed me a taj dupatta... i think it looks really nice as it rests on ur bun! u will deffo have to have an updo hairstyle for it :)
..x..
yes its DEFNTLYYY in fashion.. my ferinds who got marreid recently had it.. but da only thing is.. now wen dey go to wedings.. its werid wearing it on the side wid the kaam at one place and simple everywhere else..lolll
Well I wear a hijab so I'm going to have to make a bun under it, then cover it with the dupatta, and just keep the dupatta close to my hairline so none of my hair shows. I def do not plan on wearing it to the side, that ruins the whole show of this style
Yeah I dont think a Jhumar would even be visible because I'm going to have the dupatta a little before my hairline cuz I dont want any hair showing. Small tika? Hmm..
when are u gettin married manorani? coz i wear a hijaab aswell and want to get an idea of how a taj duppta wud luk coz i dint really want to wear a jhoomer anyway!
it's really nice, i love the look, however it is going to be heavier see if she can insert some hair balls into your hair and go for a trial to make sure you like how it sits and most importantly that it'll hold.
