If Louis Vuitton ever rises from the dead and decides to marry me, I’ll definitely consider it for my mehendi night.
How proficient would you say you are at necromancy?
Re: Tackiest thing you're ever seen a bride rock...
^I agree about the geisha look. Something that makes the geisha look even more pronounced is dark red lipstick (which often doesn't suit the bride).
I've never understood why people who never wear dark red lipstick in everyday life (probably because they know it doesn't look good on them), choose to do so for their wedding.
I think that's probably the point of it..
Re: Tackiest thing you're ever seen a bride rock...
Thanks for the recommendation! I'll be sure to look that one up :)
I'd recommend russian red from mac, imo its prettier!
Tackiest thing you're ever seen a bride rock...
On my phupos mehndi, her nand was wearing a pink and green lengha with gold kaam on it. In Pathan tradition, your wedding lengha comes from your in laws. The day after the wedding, my phupos lengha arrived. When the box was opened, it was the EXACT same lengha her nand had worn at the mehndi! That to me is very tacky!!
I actually like French manicures, but if they are done tastefully. The nails should be kept short and neat and not blinged out. I can't stand those claw/talon like nails!!!
I once saw the grooms sister pull out Tupperware boxes from her purse and start filling them with food to take home. I just laughed cause everyone knows what she is like, and would expect that from her.
At another wedding, a lady was stuffing her daughter with appetizers. The daughter didn want anymore but she kept feeding her. The little girl who was probably about 2 was running on the stage. She stopped in front of the brides chair (bride wasn't there yet) and threw up. The mother just pulled her daughter away and didn't bother to clean it or tell anyone about it. Majorly tacky and gross!
Re: Tackiest thing you're ever seen a bride rock...
Not even if they were Louboutins?!? Call me trashy (everybody does), but I'd be hiking my lehenga up every chance I got to flash those babies, and I'd work in a wink and a smile if someone was taking my picture.
There are bridal pix that do that...showing off hte shoes. Even if they're not loubs or whatever.

all of that is ridiculous!
what did your Phuppo do?? Did she have to wear the worn lehenga?
also, yes- I love French manicures on shorter nails. Talons in any color look tacky.

Oh wow, I'd read that as she'd given her an exact copy of the outfit, not the same one....wow that's a new low

I didn't do it but I think it can look cute.. as a prelude to the actual wedding pics..
Re: Tackiest thing you’re ever seen a bride rock…
This reminds me of something that is super worthy of being mentioned on this thread! A couple of months back, I attended the wedding of the cousin of a close friend. Prior to the actual wedding, the bride had a quite glam photoshoot in her bridal wear. However, some of the photos and poses were..um..awkward.
Apparently, the bride was going for a glam “burlesque” feel and had a couple of shots in which she hiked up her lehenga to reveal a bit (actually quite alot) of lacy stocking and garter underneath. Picture this pose (obviously not hiked up THAT high but you get the picture):

but with a lehenga and complete bridal hair, makeup and jewellery. Personally, I think the idea of a sexy burlesque photoshoot for your husband (to view privately) is cool. Showing people and posting it all over facebook and instagram for EVERYONE to see? Not so much. It seems like a rather strange thing to want to show people. No judgies though. To each, his own. ![]()
Re: Tackiest thing you're ever seen a bride rock...
What the heck? She put it on FB to get attention (and praise) from other people...her husband was not enough. There's a need for attention, admiration and approval. Simple si baat hai. Nothing wrong in admitting it.
Re: Tackiest thing you’re ever seen a bride rock…
Well yes, but it just seems like quite strange way to get attention. I mean, looking at the pictures, one felt like a voyeur. It rather looked like a preview of the wedding night. :sid:
One can get attention and praise in regular bridal wear, especially if the outfit, hair, and makeup and the setting of the photoshoot is quite glam. Surely, we don’t need to see what is under it? ![]()
Re: Tackiest thing you're ever seen a bride rock...
^Well that's what I meant, I agreed with you. It is voyeuristic. C'mon M, why else would you put wedding-nightish pics on FB? Even people belonging to liberal cultures and families don't do that, lol. Admit it, it's a need for attention and admiration. Actually the bride should admit it, but she never would, lol.
There was a cricketer whose daughter got married..can't remember the name...but she wore a shocking amount of gold. It may be common in their culture but very very tacky looking.
Re: Tackiest thing you’re ever seen a bride rock…
On that note, most of our British friends found it quite awkward as well. The way one friend described it was that it was not really how she was styled that made it awkward but rather the “come hither” expression and poses and the rather wedding nightish feel to it. ![]()
That said, to each, his own.
