What happened to the taange walas?

I don’t see taange walas now even in small towns?

I had seen tangewalas in Gulbarga sharif....A town in karnataka near hyderabad...

But these tangas are very limited in number..i had seen tanga in Agra and Ajmer....

Allahbad & Lukhnow ke baare me kkf bhai batayenge.........:D

i do...but they are mostly used in old parts of towns...they have a very limited routes that they serve...i see them in old parts of Allahabad, Lucknow and old Delhi...it still is quite a common sight...it's users are usually poor folks from villages.

ikka travel is still seen between two villages that do NOT yet have no roads...i remember in my childhood, we used to travel between such villages by Ikka. My mom used to sit in th middle under the canopy which was covered with specially designed pardas that hung from the canopy. IKKA has definitely disappeared from cities! :(

i once saw a documentary on Tangewalas...i'm looking for the link. i'll post it as soon as i find it.

KKF bhai kabhi aqpne village ki pic bhi post kijiye...

Mujh UP ki maidani zameen bari achhi lagi.....kaafi dur tak nazar jaati hai..

In Jatland we generally use Jugad gaadi, developed by Jat engineers:D, tangas are now past of punjab, people probably used them in partition:D

Gulbarga sharif, you mean Khwaja BandaNawaz, I attended Urs of BandaNawaz once:)

I think there are few tangas in Lahore in andron e shehr (old city). I saw them near Data Darbar 5-6 years ago.

I think tanga used to a cheap sawari in old days. Though they cover small area, compared to today's means of transport.

I think unhe uun ghoRon ki bad dua lagi, jo jab gaRI khenchne ke laiq na rehte the to unke malik unhe goli se uRa dete the :(

I had seen my very first tanga in Jeddah and sat on it too :snooty:
