Symbolism of the red dress

Re: Symbolism of the red dress

^ I guess but still you never know what's in peoples hearts and minds...and honestly i would say that i always believed that girls in my family crash into psychotic husbands... :( except my father of course :D

Re: Symbolism of the red dress

lol look where this thread has reached :D

Re: Symbolism of the red dress

I think its evil nazar, shame of body, shame of sexual relationship, but mostly evil nazar… :halo:

Re: Symbolism of the red dress

like i said, you open interesting threads! leads to great convos :)

teelobhain, but then what do you do? how do you pick someone to marry? such a dilemma!

sara, i think its twisted and wrong... procreation is the highest order of life, i think... i mean, its the future of our generation and the future of the world. to reduce it to something base and shameful is so wrong.

Re: Symbolism of the red dress

^ leave it all to Allah and do whatever you think is right...

Re: Symbolism of the red dress

I didn’t open this one

Well liek Sahar said, sexuality is so repressed that a pregnant woman might be subjected to catcalls..but then that’s not so different here now is it (Milfs and stuff  )? Anyways I’m assuming most pregnant women aren’t dying to bust out of thier shalwar kameezes and don bellyshirts and low riders, if they feel cmfortable and better in fact to wear muumuus/tents/etc, then by all means…I take ti back that its’ abt being ashamed of ones body, for htem its about having respect for their body by not showing it off, subjecting it to criticism or leers or staring..

Re: Symbolism of the red dress

teelobhain-- haan... but then when things go wrong, didn't those people trust in Allah? i guess theres a lesson to be learned in every experience you have.

Re: Symbolism of the red dress

ermm… i guess so… i can see it being more comfortable, for sure. but as for respect for their body, i didnt mean they should parade around in belly shirts and low rise shorts, i just meant, you can get nice clothes that fit you properly and that cover you at the same time. they dont have to be indecent to be nice, you know?

Re: Symbolism of the red dress

^ women in my family dont take the easy way out - they try to fix it all and i guess that is trust in Allah - as they say himmat -e- people madad-e-khuda...but i am worried about myself seeing some womens bad experiences, i tend to get worried by such things easily

Re: Symbolism of the red dress

i dont blame you! sounds like they've had awful experiences!
might i suggest marrying outside your family? :p

Re: Symbolism of the red dress

thats the problem baba all the outsiders are the problematic men actually ones in the family are good - coming to myself situation i dont have anyone left in the family for me all are elder and married while the one which is available is not my type he is a bit to reserved for me...so yea i am to go for the outsider only.

Why red ?!?

**Why our 'traditional' asian brides wear red on their wedding day?

I mean the western brides wear white coz it's the symbol of 'virginity'.

So, what does red mean ????**

Re: Why red ?!?

that we're smokin' hot

Re: Why red ?!?

^lol! - good question -

Also eastern brides wear white. All Arab and other countries like Japan also wear white.

Re: Why red ?!?

lol... i guess its just personal choice........ Red looks pretty on Brides according to me. It's colourful..... but its ur day u can wear what ever you like, its not that u have to wear. I have seen so many brides in white, pink, ferozi etc on the Barat day....... but to me Red is for Barat n any other colour for the Walima....

Re: Why red ?!?

it just looks traditional.. somehow

I think it started out as a Hindu tradition. The red color was supposed to be symbolic of the sun.

And the practice just spread to the point where the Muslims were doing it as well, even though traditionally, I believe a Muslim bride wears white.

Re: Why red ?!?

red is a color of happiness. it's a shokh color, which is suited for a young girl. chinese brides wear read traditionally, and they decorate their houses with red during the new year because it's a lucky color.

white is a symbol of death and mourning, and suited for old people.
