Why do we constantly use the terms “Sword of Islam”??
Isn’t it bad PR already? Centuries of a Peaceful religion and using terminology like this?
Please refrain from using such gandhay terms. Its really nasty, IMHO.

Re: “Sword” Bad PR?
^^ one of the names of HAdrat Muhammad :saw: is nabi ul mulahim
be balanced…dont start blowing your self in public places/bowing to whatever oppressors are doing to muslims (two extremes)
Re: "Sword" Bad PR?
His name was the "sword"?
Who gave him that name? I bet you it wasn't himself. :)
Re: “Sword” Bad PR?
bib hazorr :saw: ka laqqab thaa nabi ul mulahim
Re: "Sword" Bad PR?
damn you.
Re: "Sword" Bad PR?
^^ astagfirullah
Re: "Sword" Bad PR?
mulahim meaning?
Re: "Sword" Bad PR?
PYC:How do you claim enturies of peaceful religion? how's that? whether it be gazni or gengiz, islami invasions were always with utmost violence; so was islamic rule except for short gaps. Ofcourse you know the present condition around the world.
But agree any symbols of violence has no place in the religion in civilized countries and societies.
BaiBihari - go astagfirullah yourself and while at it let the camel go
Re: "Sword" Bad PR?
The religion's tenents can be peaceful, while the people are not. That is not a logical contradiction.
PCG, not PYC!

so in ur fairy-tale land, nations r conquered by presenting them with flowers and sending them greeting cards????
surely when a battle is fought, violence will be there....
Re: "Sword" Bad PR?
right...and when did you ever see the Rasul spread Islam by CONQUERING nations...?
He only used war and violence in self-defense, and he waited a long time and his people endured a lot before they ever raised a sword.
Re: "Sword" Bad PR?
I meant PCG ....
armugal: invasion and conquering is one thing - doing that in the name of a religion and then claiming people converted because they liked the religion is just stupid. you should also then realize that most people who talk about islam this and hadith that were spawned by people converted at the tip of the sword or worse and not by any sort of realization of a new divinity.
I don't know what is there to argue in a simple point - peace and sword don't go together.
Re: "Sword" Bad PR?
This reminds me that there is a sword on Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's flag. How would it look like if somebody has a klashinakov on their national flag?
Re: "Sword" Bad PR?
Yep and Atlantis was there to record each and every conversion by the tip of sword.
Re: "Sword" Bad PR?
^
the conquering was not done in the name of Islam by ppl like ghaznavi....
and neither were the conversions due to the sword....
most of the ppl to convert in india were the low caste ppl wh were treated worse than animals by hindus but treated as equal humans by muslims....
indonesia has the highest muslim population in the world, but no muslim army ever invaded that land....
the idea that Islam was spread at the point of sword is just ridiculous....
Re: "Sword" Bad PR?
Atlantis, I dont think you can say that every conversion was due to force. Plenty converted out of free will. The History is full of variety, yo.
Funguy, I think they should redo Afghanistan's flag and put a kalashnikov on it.
Re: "Sword" Bad PR?
Exactly, armughal. Which is why I think this sword imagery is something invented by muslims and ironically, its hurting our own image. Good job, whoever coined the term. What a shmuck.
Re: "Sword" Bad PR?
guys u r getting the wrong idea...try to read the article completely...this post has deafeated the purpose of my earlier post...The sword of islam in that articlle was supposed to be aamaaal and islam as a religion...the author in that article is trying to explain that ppl who were struck by this "sword" were not literally struck...its was our prophet's (P.b.u.h) aamaal and his personality that affected them..it struck them more than any other sword could strike them ever....
Re: "Sword" Bad PR?
^uh, they could have used the term "wand"...or "nirvana"...or "pearls of wisdom"...or "cool idea".
Why the SWORD. Sure it makes a metaphor as you explain it, but it has a double meaning. Didn't the person who coined the term realize that it could be manipulated.
Its like "Hi, I'm going to refer to the Prophet as a Sword, and I dont think anyone will ever think I mean that the Rasul was violent or Islam is violent...rather I expect that people will understand what I'm trying to say as 99% of Mankind can understand obscure metaphors"
Which equates to in my mind as "Hi, my name is Stupid. And I'm going to screw things up for my progeny without thinking twice about it".

They simply couldn't resist the MAGIC SWORD of a humble and lonely Prophet!
......
So sharp was the edge of the SWORD! It simply conquered the hearts; bodies yielded automatically..
[/QUOTE]
thats what the author tries to explain...the sword of islam is what people have made propaganda abt islam that islam was spread thru force...in this article thats what the author has tried to explain us that it has spread due to teachings and its correctnes as a religion.. There are interviews of some non-muslims who converted to islam...see what they have to say...
