How in the world did any of you moms or dads do it? My little girl used to drink lots of milk with her bottle but now that i’ve completely stopped the bottle and am only giving milk from the sippy cup she doesn’t drink any of it.
I’ve tried all kinds of ways to distract her so she would drink but it’s hopeless. I need some major help!
well she's 18 months and I used to give her water and juice in the sippy cup ever since she was 9 months old and she used to drink that fine but now I think she misses her bottle. She only drinks 4 or 5 sips of whole milk and that's all.
I even take out the stopper thingy so i can just drop the milk in her mouth but even with that she doesn't open her mouth after a while. Nowadays she avoids the sippy cup any time she sees it. I was just wondering what desis do to overcome this particular stage
i always feel kids' milk formula tastes horrible!!!!!
i think da only reason they drink milk from da bottle is cuz of da comfortable sucking they're so used to since birth. lolz
anyways, try giving her flavoured milk. i know its not da best solution but the main idea is to get tat milk down her right? :D
maybe she really doesnt enjoy tat particular formula ur giving her. how abt a change of formula?
Malika i am at the same stage as u are as i am breastfeeding my 18 months old son and now want to stop it but he is giving me very tough time as i tried him flavoured milk ,plain milk with straw but its useless.he dont want to take anything,i bring some new feeding cup for him but he doesnt like the taste of milk.
but ur daughter is taking bottle so its not a problem with taste of milk ,so u can try straw option too,or buy new cup for her may be she will take it,but i think wait for few more months and then start gradually, encourage her and try to make her understand that she is now getting older and its not looking good to take boottle u have too take milk in cup or so on,my elder son start cup in the age of 4 ,but my elder daughter stop drininkg milk after i stopped bottle,so lets wait for few months more,or try to give her by straw.
My daughter is 2 yrs and 4 months and she still drinks from a bottle. Every1 was on my case to get her to drink from a cup but i refused cos i know the moment i do this, she will stop drinking milk. I agree with LegallyBrown. I think when they are old enough they switch themselves without any drama.
Well actually most of my friends don't have any kids yet so i really can't ask them. The doctor had said during her last appointment that it should be done because the sucking on the bottle will cause a baby's teeth to misalign and that the milk is mainly for calcium. Basically, that I can give her other calcium rich foods to compensate.
I think i'll just give her as much milk as I can with the sippy cup whatever amount she wants to drink and give her the remaining amount of calcium from yogurt, cheese, calcium rich orange juice or any other food rich in calcium. I'll fill her up with whatever food she wants to eat.
Otherwise we will have another generation of GSers like Anil Khan and Afridi whatever in the world
As if its not a burden enough to have so many love deprived, forced to keep up with the jones abused kids in the world
If you've got a problem with me, either PM me about it or post it on one of my threads. Don't be a spineless b*tch and bad mouth me in random threads where I have to hear from other members.
My mother always tells me that I didn't leave the bottle until I was 4+ and that my motivation was because I didn't wanna get laughed at in kindergarten, otherwise I refused to drink it from the glass.
Now, Misbah is the same. She drinks VERY little from the sippy cup. Her teachers are concerned, so is her mother but I am the least bit bothered. She will move on when she is ready. I encourage her to drink it from the cup but if she insists I don't force her. I think at her age, its more important that she drinks milk, not that she drinks it from one thing or another.
it's not necessary that a child transitions from a bottle to a sippy cup. some can move right along to a cup with no trouble at all. have u tried those training cups?
