Have you ever seen a teenager drinking from a baby bottle? :)

Not all kids are the same Some will learn straight away, while others will not.
Just give the kid some space to move at their own pace.
I dun understand why parnets spend so much time getting frustrated over stupid things and spend less time enjoying their kids.
i think its the pediatricians who put pressure on the parents. my sister told me that they recommend that the child should stop drinking out of the bottle by 18 months. Dentists say that i can cause misalignment of the teeth (as mentioned above by someone).
Re: switching to sippy cups
personally (no offense to anyone) but i think it looks ridiculous seeing a 4-5 yr old drinking out of a bottle. It's usually desi parents who allow their child to drink out of it for so long. the worst is when u see a bottle full of soda in it..argh! pisses me off to see that.
Re: switching to sippy cups
^ oh yeah 'we are above the rest' syndrome
very common among desis too

Re: switching to sippy cups
Maya is 14 months and still breastfed, but I do give her cows milk as well to start the weaning process slowly. She doesn't really like hard, plastic sippy cups either. But she loves her Spongebob insulated, no-spill cup with a straw on the top. She drinks much more and faster with a straw. Plus it keeps drinks colder. So Mallika you could just stick with a bottle or you could try out different types of cups. Maybe if she sees 'big kids' drinking from the same cup, then she'll want to use one too.
