Swiss voters 'back ban on building of minarets'

I have been following discussions going on in the comment section of various european newspapers. One would expect such a move to be opposed and ridiculed in the European media. But the funny thing is many newspapers and editorials support the swiss move. Even the comment section has people nodding in agreement. There are very few people opposing the move. I don’t think this would have been the case if the case against minarets had been taken to a vote a few years back. For some reason the liberal voice in Europe that opposes the crazy right is weakening with every passing year.

I have to agree with you. In fact, I’ve doing the same, and there are clear signs of Islamophobia in Europe. I also think that Muslims in Europe are to some extent responsible for their own predicaments. They have failed to integrate in European societies, and on top of that jihad and terrorism aren’t something people are crazy about. I myself was in Europe 2 weeks back, and you can almost sense how people feel about Muslims and that is why there is support for these right wing parties. Rise of BNP in UK is another good example of what is yet to come.
