Swimming - Question for Guys

Hello Guys.. I am starting my first ever swimming lessons at the age of 24; confused about one thing  and wondering you guys might be able to give some advice. I have hairy legs so I am wondering that do I have to shave legs for swimming here in North America? is it considered inappropriate to have hairy legs in the pool? thanks in advance

Re: Swimming - Question for Guys

Most guys do not shave when going in the pool. So no, its not considered inappropriate. The guys that do shave are usually ones that are on swim teams.

P.S. I am not a guy.

Re: Swimming - Question for Guys

No

Re: Swimming - Question for Guys

Oh mannnnn… for a moment I thought u were a girl … :hehe: No silly, be urself  ur main focus should be swimming not ur physical being. Seriously try to relax as much as u can, the more you relax the quicker u’ll learn swimming. The more you panic, more it will scare the H*** out of you

Re: Swimming - Question for Guys

dude get a life lol .. this army guy taught me swimming n his legs were more hairy then mine and as long u dont participate in a swimming competition .. u dont have to shave ur legs .. shaving legs is to avoid resistence to stroke fast .. go to a red neck swimming pool i bet old skool red-necks are more hairier then us desis n they proudly falunt it too.

man ur 24 n ur asking for ppl's opinion abt shaving ur legs ? lol im sry .. but i just think its lil funny

Re: Swimming - Question for Guys

Shaving no, I know people who clip the hair to make it short.
looks neater

Depends on what you are comfy with.

Re: Swimming - Question for Guys

Unless you become a professional, there is no need to shave your legs for swimming.

Re: Swimming - Question for Guys

Unless you’re planning to audition for Baywatch theres no real need to shave.

Of course if you have long thick body hairs then you may want to at least trim the hairs because when you get out of the water you could be mistaken for a sea monster with all that wet dangling hair. At least thats what I saw during my last trip to the pool as a child :bummer:

Re: Swimming - Question for Guys

who the feck trims body hair?

Re: Swimming - Question for Guys

chunnu-munnu aram se nangay hoke pani mein chalang mar do. baQi rab pe choro. fiQer not abt others. unka rab rakha hai :stuck_out_tongue:  :k:

Re: Swimming - Question for Guys

It's normal for professional male swimmers and cyclists to remove their body hair because it allows for more efficiency and speed.

Re: Swimming - Question for Guys

Fret, I see that advice on this board for a first-time swimmer, i am not talking about pro atheletes.

Re: Swimming - Question for Guys

ashtray its quite common for men to clip (thats the right term, not trim) the legs on their arms and legs.

It makes the hair look neat and not give them the caveman effect.

Re: Swimming - Question for Guys

legally, i dont know what kind of neanderthals you had been going out with, but I dont know of any man that has a need to clip his hair.

Re: Swimming - Question for Guys

oh so its ok to ask about hairy chests and hairy belly? but not legs?

rookie: please dont shave your legs…ewww.

Re: Swimming - Question for Guys

You asked “who the feck trims body hair”, so I answered you.
