so which comic book side has been more fun for you to watch
DC:
superman
batman
(i dont think they have done any major movies with other characters)
Marvel:
Spiderman
Xmen
Hulk
Ironman
fantastic four
ghost rider
captain america
Punisher
nick Fury (made for TV)
dare devil
electra
I personally like the marvel universe more than DC, and feel the characters are done better. DC has done a fantastic job with batman especially now that they have gone the dark knight route and how batman begns was done by taking out the cheese factor that the previous incarnation had become. Superman movies…I am always disappointed, the last one was decent but its sad to see such a good character done so poorly.
Its hard to glorify Superman cause no matter what you do, you can't do justice to what that character can do ... (I hope I made some sense in saying what I wanted to say)
But I agree, I was kind of dissapointed with the new Superman movie cause they blew up the whole character setting. I just hate when they do that in movies and think that they can deviate from original character setting ..
Just the fact that Lois Lane is no longer his GF is very irritating ... and then that Super Kid ?
Anyway, love Batman cause he really is not a superhero, he does his stuff through training and gadgets. I think that they did an amazing job with Batman Begins .. If Superman Returns was 5/10, Batman Begins was 10/10 ..
Spiderman .. that character (at least the way they portrayed in the movie) was little mind boggling. I mean, that guy has no special super power other than the fact the he can do his spider thingies, yet , in his fights, he can survive 20 story falls and when vilian smashed him against the brick wall, SpiderMan body can cracked the wall instead of wall cracking his body ...
batman and ghost rider are the best and x-men is quite good too.
Ghost rider was too magical for me .. for that matter every other super hero movie is way too magical ...
in fact whole Marvel line is mostly a human exposure to some radiation or energy wave or something turned him into super bieng.
DC on the other hand is very genuine. Batman is a normal human bieng, Superman is an Alien ... that is it. No fancy shmancy scientific mumbo jumbo to explain their super powers

dc lacks in imagination :)
marvel has aliens as well, and if you move beyond dc's these two characters they have other superheroes who have special powers
ever heard of aquaman, wonderwoman or green lantern, or flash?
teen titans?
you are comparing two characters with a line up here
but marvel has similar characters, I noted nick fury as one, captain america is another one and the punisher is a third one.. no super powers. iron man is yet another
and there are many many aliens, including silver surfer, galactus.
The success of marvel has been that it has been able to show more of its characters in movies, dc cant really seem to get beyond batman and superman
See I never went beyond Superman and Batman, that much ..
first time I had serious exposure with all other heroes is when they came to attend the funeral of Superman in that DC comic special when Superman died.
still dont know how he came back though cause that is pretty much the time when I stopped reading comic books, around 90-91 time frame
if its one...it has to be spiderman.............that mouthy git has more one liners than anyone else.....
he gets my vote!!!
"hang around spidey"!!!!
although the movie version of spiderman is not as much of a wiseass as the comic book version. they have made him to be too much of a tragic hero, which is fine but i think in the process they have not captured the real personality of either peter parker or spiderman
I read the 4 novel series of Arzang (superman) by Maqbool Jahangir (i think) when i was in class 2 before I started reading Marvel comics, ussay pehle english ki samajh nahi aati thi :D
TLK, when I read superman i was surprised at how copycat the west was, i remember i complained to my mother about it. That is one reason why I never read Superman comics (DC), he was just a copy of Arzang for me :(
I also remember how difficult it was to save enough from my pocket money to be able to afford my first comic from the old book shop in melody market Islamabad. I managed to increase my collection to 4 comics by the end of the year and was able to read probably another forty thru exchanging them in class. My sister used to buy Archie comics at the time and I would spend my money on marvel comics.
