Re: sunni's praying in a shia mosque..
i think its fyne as long they pray their own way and if more then 1 make a jamat but pray how they are suppoz to .. btw ive offered quite a few prayers in shia mesjid and so did my shia frienz
Re: sunni's praying in a shia mosque..
this is just messed up....
the point is to pray to god.
wtf do u accomplish by praying behind a pious/ wicked/ evil/ shia/ sunni/ wahabi/ ahmadi/ hypocrite/ pure hearted person? is that going to make your prayers any more(or less) acceptable by god? u think u will be judged based on the collective views of the jamaat you prayed in?
as for the Former professor's views ....to me it is yet another way to divide people nothing else. i can take the same paragraph and change just a few words around to make it sound as if sunnis are on the wrong path....
its just alot of vutevar.....
Re: sunni's praying in a shia mosque..
well most of us don't say our prayers anyway, so we shudn't try to object on those who make the effort , be it in a sunni mosque or a shia mosque, correct me if i am wrong.
Re: sunni’s praying in a shia mosque..
actually, there are different beliefs w/in shias as well so based on which belief you follow there can be a huge difference. some shia’s believe in nothing but innovations…these shia’s have changed the original shia beliefs.
Re: sunni’s praying in a shia mosque..
u cant/shouldnt make that assumption
Re: sunni’s praying in a shia mosque..
very true…in fact one well known mufti (of the hanafi belief) straight out said that shia’s were kaafirs. im not sure if that is true or not…and frankly i dont care just as long as i continue to do what I believe in. i’ll be judged for my actions not for anyone else’s.
Re: sunni’s praying in a shia mosque..
indeed it is..but if the imam leading the prayers is saying something that goes against your beliefs than it’s best that you pray elsewhere.
Re: sunni’s praying in a shia mosque..
true
but to my knowledge neither a shia nor sunni imam says any such thing.
both believe in god
both pray TO god
what could be there to be said in a prayer directed only towards the same god that could nullify one party’s prayer and not the others?
Re: sunni's praying in a shia mosque..
assalamu 'alaikum angeleyes.
Hanafi is not a belief. It is a school of Islamic fiqh followed by the Sunni Muslims of India, Pakistan, Bangladesh. The Sunni Muslims in the Indian state of Kerala follow the Shafi'i School.
In the Hanafi madhab, to declare someone a kafir (which means disbeliever) is a matter of great caution. But in Pakistan there are a lot of mufti claimers, just as there are a lot of sufi claimers, and claimers in almost all fields.
In Islamic history, the issue of takfir was both ways, actually it was more from the shi'a side towards the Sunni side. But takfir is not a new matter. Proper scholars with Taqwa have recorded the correct way of doing it according to Sunnah shareef of our Master salalaho 'alaihi wa salam. So, if someone is just making takfir, which you feel is just out of hate or to incite violence, then please do not listen to that guy and warn others not to listen to him.

Re: sunni’s praying in a shia mosque..
sorry wrong choice of words on my part…yes i know it isnt a belief..it’s a school of thought.
also i take great caution in who i listen to. btw i edited my last post…it wasnt an imam who said that… it is a mufti.
Re: sunni's praying in a shia mosque..
I'm absolutely with shweetdreamz ..
Re: sunni’s praying in a shia mosque..
have never heard or saw any Shia Alim (and I mean Alim) declaring sunnis Kaffir.
Re: sunni's praying in a shia mosque..
In Sydney we have a large Muslim population, mainly Lebonese.
I was speaking to this Lebonese Shia lady - who says that Sunni's are the fanatics in the Muslim religion, and they are the ones who do the terrorist things. And give all Muslims a bad name.
Then just a few days ago, I meet this security guard, who seeing I look south Asian, asks me if I am Muslim? I said I am Hindu from India. He seemed Ok with that-but the moment I mentioned that we have some Shia Muslims in our office-he snarled at me and almost shouted-'they are not muslims". The Hate and intensity in his voice shocked me(he was Pakistani).
Re: sunni’s praying in a shia mosque..
thats pretty wierd… he had no problem with you ..why would he have problem with shia?
