I remember reading it somewhere that its sunnat of jhaaring your shoes before you wear them(reason being that at that time keeras like scorpian etc would seek shelter in shoes)..but anyway I do that and tell the kids that too. Couple of days ago I was jharing my shoes…upside down…and out came a spider:hayaa:…Just imagining what it would have done if I hadnt…
And one time as I was opeing the back door there was this big spider, like meaty kind…zoom it tried coming in, I had just closed the door(I hadnt seen it yet)…found his body in the door hinge…motaa spider…I think they have this heat seeking sensor or maybe how the snakes see the heat in that red kind of vision…wait outside for the right moment…Anyway lesson of the story…Always Jharring your shoes before you wear them..which is a Sunnat:) Any other habits that you remember of Rasulallah (pbuh) that you follow in daily life?
Re: Sunnat that you Follow in Daily Life??
I do that too. I also do the same to my bed before I go to sleep to remove anything it might have on it. There are probably more but these two I do for sure and never forget (i.e. am used to doing it on daily basis now).
Re: Sunnat that you Follow in Daily Life??
Thats good HHL. I have to do the jharing of bed too..I used to but now have kind of stopped.
do you remember more of them. I remember the sitting while you are drinking water.
Re: Sunnat that you Follow in Daily Life??
I read Bismillah before turning out the light every night and cover all my dishes...oh another one i try to do as much I can... sleep in wuzu! Read Ayatul Kursi every night andprayer before sleeping no matter what...
I heard about the water thing too... sit down drink in three saans, look at it carefully to make sure nothing is in there.. start with Bismillah and end with Alhamdolillah!
Re: Sunnat that you Follow in Daily Life??
^and remember never to breathe into ur water. (serious)
I try and drink in 3 sips too. Read Bismillah before doing anything and say Al-Hamdu-Lillah after everthing.
Re: Sunnat that you Follow in Daily Life??
I dont know if this is Sunnah but also when we were younger we were taught to always say Salaam upon entering the house… even if no one is in the immediate room… never speak in the bathroom..when putting on shoes…wear the right shoe first than the left… These might be Sunnah but im not exactly sure ![]()
Re: Sunnat that you Follow in Daily Life??
i think ur right.
it's a Sunnah for the Standing to say Salaam to sitting, the entering to say Salaam to the already-present.
Re: Sunnat that you Follow in Daily Life??
I'd like to fast reguraly during weekdays but I don't, not that it's mandatory :(

Re: Sunnat that you Follow in Daily Life??
I remember an auntie once told me that when I slept over house when I was younger... I never tried to find out if it was true
Re: Sunnat that you Follow in Daily Life??
Nice thread Ask :)
i used to do the whole shoe jhaarhing thing b4 but since i am almost always running late 4 work, I often forget, thanx 4 the reminder :JAK:
Some of the few sunnahs i try to follow are the saying after sneezing/ how to reply if someone does, dua after eating, in times of stress; namaz-e-haajat and I guess the dua used for pains...

Re: Sunnat that you Follow in Daily Life??
^ I agree to some extent but it is not always about logic. It all comes down to Allah and His Prophet's commands (not talking about voluntary stuff here). We cannot possibly know each and every reason behind every commandment of Allah and His Prophet. Like for example, I have some muslim friends who try to explain why Pig is haraam and give me a long list of reasons why we, as humans, should not eat it. While I may agree, it all comes down to the fact that Allah has made it haram, period. He knows us better than we know ourselves. Those who don't follow Islam and/or don't practice sunnah (even if it's voluntary and not mandatory) can find 100 reasons not to follow it and the likes of him/her will find the explanation 'logical' but those who do follow it may merely do it because Allah or His Prophet (S.A.W) has said so.

Re: Sunnat that you Follow in Daily Life??
Mashallah good for you. That is a very difficult one to follow but at the same time a very noble one:). May Allah give all of us that much strength to follow this sunnat:)

Re: Sunnat that you Follow in Daily Life??
So whatever happens to Islam as being a rational, logical religion? I don't know why Muslims like to shy away from that fact, as if acknowledging the presence of logic and rationality is somehow taking away from any blind faith we should have. Yes, there should be faith but there's nothing wrong in knowing the logic of something as well. Just b/c someone wants to know something abt it, that doesnt mean they are doubting anything, some people will follow things w/o knowing the reasoning behind it, and that's not entirely wrong. However, it doesn't hurt to know something. Anyways i'm not going to repeat my question.. :)
Like I said, I did not disagree with you but you have to look at it this way too: What is the point in praying 5 times a day when you (let's say) WALK to office or school, exercise regularly or ride a bike instead of taking the car? What is the point in fasting when you rarely get a break during working days and work for hours before you actually get a chance to eat/drink anything? What is the point in prayting taraveeh when you already pray so much sunnat/nafil during the rest of the day? :)
