Sunnat that you Follow in Daily Life??

Re: Sunnat that you Follow in Daily Life??

I do agree to some extent, but Sara you do have to think that there may be a reason that we dont know.Your question is not something like you HAVE to follow it blindly. For sunna , its your choice. You follow it you get ...wat can be said as extra credit. You dont, you dont get penalized for it.
There are certain things that we still dont know why. and I would suggest you do your research in trying to find the answer. One scholar Jeffrey Lang said that it is good that people do research and may come to the same conclusion as earlier but the main concept is to find it out for yourself through the methods you may have learnt in schools etc.

Re: Sunnat that you Follow in Daily Life??

I said in my previous post that when I said whatever I said, that was not about voluntary stuff :D
It all comes down to Allah and His Prophet's commands (not talking about voluntary stuff here).
And my post #20 had taraveeh in it (which is voluntary) but that was just to get the point across.

Re: Sunnat that you Follow in Daily Life??

Speaking of this topic, I once put my shoes on (3-4 years ago) and after a few hours I realized something was under my right heel and it was bothering me. I took my shoe off to see why it's a little bit higher there and turned out there was a cockroach in my shoe, which I had stepped on while putting my shoe on and didn't realize it. It was winter and its body was crisp because of cold. So I just threw it out, put my shoe back on and moved on :D

I am not sure what Sara was saying because she has edited her replies but looking at HHL's replies, it sounds like she was talking about the reasons and logics behind doing things the way Islam suggests? If that is so, I agree with HHL's answer "Allah commanded us to do so" but I also agree with Sara. Personally, I go more with Sara because I too like to know the logic. There is a very valid reason behind EVERYTHING that Islam asks us to do. That's another thing that in Pakistan I NEVER learned (was never explained) by teachers why we do certain things certain way.

Take the example of eating pork or something as simple as why we are encouraged to sit down while drinking water. In Pakistan, I always learned "because Allah said so" or "because Prophet (PBUH) did so". Because of that, I had trouble explaining this stuff to non-Muslims and felt dumb saying "because Allah said so". I am not ashamed or anything but "we are told to do so" is not always the answer. Allah made us curious and asked us to seek knowledge. I feel better knowing WHY I am doing something rather than just doing it.. And again, there is nothing that Allah has asked us to do/not to do without a valid reason. We just have to seek the answer/reason.

Re: Sunnat that you Follow in Daily Life??

^ yes you shouldn't do things which you just hear from others unless you find out their importance :)
Islam does not force anything
as it is said there's no compulsion in religion

Re: Sunnat that you Follow in Daily Life??

The reason pork has been forbidden, besides the obvious, from a medical point of view is that they carry diseases.

The medical aspects of the prohibition

To abstain from consuming pork means to care about one?s health. The omnivorous pig, being by far the most slovenly and greedy domestic animal, devours virtually anything, including human excrement and is a breeding ground for various malignant microbes and parasites. Consumption of pork may result in many serious diseases. We are safe to assume that one of the main reasons behind the prohibition of pork consumption was the spread of trichinosis, - a disease caused by trichinella spiralis, a parasitic roundworm.

Trichinosis is caused by eating infected raw or insufficiently cooked pork, in which the immature parasite is encysted. When such a piece of meat is eaten, the encysted embryos are set free in the intestines, and develop into full-grown trichinae. From each pair of these, thousands of new embryos may arise in the course of several weeks. As soon as this new generation of embryos is produced, they make their way into the wall of the bowel, and thence wander through the circulation system, finally depositing themselves between the fibers of the voluntary muscles, where they become encysted. The first symptoms develop in the course of two weeks after the infection. The disease is characterized by fever and severe pain in the limbs and muscles, oedema of the soft tissues, and eosinophilia in the blood. The infection may result in severe damage to the nervous system (in the form of encephalitis), cardiac muscle (miocarditis), as well as other complications.

Despite the therapeutic advances, contemporary medicine does not provide an effective cure for trichinosis. The only efficient protection, therefore, is based on prevention, or giving up eating pork. Although the meat is subject to thorough inspection in slaughter-houses, as well as by the Sanitary Inspection, this procedure does not give a one hundred percent guarantee, as was clearly shown by the recent outbreak in Moscow.

The list of the microbes and parasites found in pork is vast. It should be emphasized that many of these diseases as yet remain incurable.

Taenia Solium (tapeworm). The taeniasis is caused by the brain?s infestation by the larvae form of the pork tapeworm, the gastrointestinal parasite, and may constitute up to 1.3 percent of the intracranial volume. The parasite?s onchosphere travels through the mucous membranes of the blood vessels into the portal circulatory system, and is thence transported throughout the body, infecting various internal organs, as well as the brain. The course of the disease is remittent and, symptomatically, is characterized by the presence of several niduses. The infestation may often be manifested in the development of the epileptic syndrome, meningism and the increase of the intracranial pressure.

Roundworms. Ascariasis may result in appendicitis, and some types of jaundice. The infestation is known to cause dyspepsia.

Schitosoma Japonica. This disease is manifested in hemorrhages and anemia. In the case of the ova infesting the brain or bone marrow, the disease may bring about paralysis or death.

Paragonimus Westermani. Infestation may result in haemoptysis, or the coughing up of blood, due to the worm setting in the lungs.

Paciolepsis Buski. This parasite causes dyspepsia, severe diarrhea and general edema.

Clonorchis Sinensis. Infestation by this parasite may be manifested in some types of jaundice.

Metastrongylus Apri may cause bronchitis or the inflammation of the lungs? tissue.

Gigantorinchus Gigas causes anemia and dyspepsia.

Balantidium Coli is known to cause acute dysentery, resulting in the severe emaciation.

Bacterial diseases

Tuberculosis.

Fusiformis Necrophulus, which causes a serious disease of the lower limbs.
Salmonella Cholera Suis (cholera)
Brucellosis, - the disease results in the irreversible loss of the victim?s capabilities.
Erysipelas, or St. Anthony?s fire.
Viral infections

Small pox.
Japanese encephalitis (B-type).
Influenza.
Protozoan infections
Toxoplasma Goundii. This microorganism causes a very serious disease of toxoplasmosis. In the congenital form the unborn child is infected by the mother. Toxoplasmosis often results in the sudden death within several days or weeks after birth. In the case of survival, the infection may result in mental retardation, loss of sight or deafness. The acquired form in adults may manifest itself in chronic fever, marked by liver and spleen malfunction, pneumonia, and hydrocephalus. This disease may also affect sight and hearing.
Those who consume pork are more prone to obesity due to the high percentage of fat in pork. In this group, blood cholesterol level is frequently higher than normal; pork-eaters are more susceptible to arteriosclerosis, which may result in cardiovascular diseases, malfunction of the brain blood-circulation, vascular pathology of the lower limbs, etc.

Pork is difficult to digest, which may be the cause of many chronic diseases of the digestive system. Ulcerous skin infections are more frequently found within the pork-consuming group. Of great interest is the research into the hydrolysis of pork fat, its deposition in the human body, and the extent of its utilization. There is a theory that animal fat, acquired by the consumption of the herbivorous animals? meat, undergoes a process of hydrolysis and is thence synthesized anew and deposited in the body as human fat. Pork fat, however, is not subject to hydrolysis and is consequently deposited in the human fat tissue as pork fat. Since the proper utilization of this fat deposit is problematic, in order to produce energy, the body burns up the stock of glucose, which is essential for brain activity. This process brings about a chronic feeling of hunger, which, in turn, results in a vicious circle: although having a substantial fat build-up, the person is constantly consuming additional food without feeling satisfied.

Re: Sunnat that you Follow in Daily Life??

another thing we are and especially pakistanis are unsure of many things and they just reason out by saying * Islam wants it that way* , because they have very lil knowledge and they are not eager to learn anything
teggy = thanx for sharing :)

Re: Sunnat that you Follow in Daily Life??

no prob. a5z1 :)

I agree with you that people often take shield behind the religion instead of being intellectual about it and spreading the wisdom so other may see that Islam is not just about 'dont do this' but also a very adaptive religion that has much logic behind it. Pity most ppl don't want to learn all its aspects. There are things which are not explained in simple words because people are expected to use their brain and comprehend, explore, dig deep, for Islam is a religion that you love more the more you investigate it. Most of the people who have converted to it, have done so after doing much research and see that it's very logical and encourages all aspects so that you may see you're believing in what is firm, and take pride in the faith ye have adopted.

Re: Sunnat that you Follow in Daily Life??

wow! thnx man. i really appreciate your this sharing round of Applause

would you also shed the light on scientific reasoning behind the halal and haram food. i mean Zabiha (or Kosher) vs non Zabiha food.

ps. phele dafa koe kaam ke post ke hai tum na :cb:

Re: Sunnat that you Follow in Daily Life??

I hope this wasn't directed at my post because I was not preventing others from learning but my first reason for doing something which Allah or His Prophet (S.A.W) commanded should be because they said so. Agreed that Allah created everything for a purpose but sometimes our minds cannot comprehend everything, thus putting doubts in our minds. Like take my example: I walk like crazy everyday and love walking. Every now and then, I am moving. Can you explain logically why I should pray 5 times a day considering that I walk (which itself is an exercise) everyday? :)

Re: Sunnat that you Follow in Daily Life??

No it was not directed towards you . it was only a reply to what Shikra had said , that he did not learn when he was in pakistan .** teggy** has explained it better
Praying 5 times means worshipping Allah . what do we recite in namaz ? firstly surah fateha , then surah ikhlas and so on.
If you sum up the whole Quran in a few words it will make Surah Fateha, furthermore if you sum it up again it makes the word Allah,
in short we are praising Allah , confirming that we rely on him completely , we also recite over and over that He is the only one and HE is great .

yes namaz benefits us in many other ways . it is an exercise , besides having it's own importance of remembering Allah in every kind of situation

Re: Sunnat that you Follow in Daily Life??

I spit dryly (3x) on my left shoulder almost every morning. When I wake up.

I sleep with my head facing the ka'aba, over my right shoulder often times.

I remember the hadeeth written in my signature, many times during the day.

Re: Sunnat that you Follow in Daily Life??

That should be when you have a bad dream, and while saying Azobillahe Minash shaitaan nira jeem. Bad dreams are said to be the shaitaan messing with your head, and that is why its said to ask for panah from Allah Tallah:)

Re: Sunnat that you Follow in Daily Life??

will you please check this out about Surah Fateha cuz all i know that it is the mother Surah of Quran-e-Majeed.

whereas according to my knowledge the thing you said for summing up the Quran essence into one Surah is actually said for Surah-e-Iklas ("Qul ho wala")

ps. if you recite Surah Iklas thrice, you will get sawab equals to of reciting complete Quran-e-Pak.

Re: Sunnat that you Follow in Daily Life??

You are right, in this case the foremost reason would be that it is to thank your creator and he commanded you to do it. From a logical point of view, it is good for your heart. You walk and that's good for the entire body but prayer is good for certain body parts, especially when it comes to the circulation of blood of heart and brain.

I have heard this from doctors.

Re: Sunnat that you Follow in Daily Life??

:)

Shaitaan is trying very hard past few months.

Correct me if I am wrong, but just recently I had read someting similar from Hadeeth. There are a few Surahs, and reciting each of which is counted as being equivalent to either 1/3 or 1/4 of the Quran. I don't think that there is any Surah, which if recited, counts as being equivalent to the whole of Quran-e-Sharif.
