Re: Summer transfers
only if Real Madrid can get this Robinho saga to end in their favor.
It will be a major boost for them, perhaps comparable to when Ronaldinho joined Barcelona.
Re: Summer transfers
^ Yaar I watched Robinho in some Brazilian league highlights as well as recent confedrations cup. He is good but not THAT good. Anyways lets see. Real Madrid surely needs a striker to replace Raul.
Re: Summer transfers
Shawn Wright-Phillips to Chelsea from Manchestar City. Another major transfer of the summer after Vieri and Viera. He is a great prospect and Chelsea will benefit from him to a great deal.
Re: Summer transfers
SWP is one of my favorite players and Chelsea are looking tight but there not quite unbeatable, especially without the elite striker they’ve been coveting all summer.
Ok, they have Makelele, Lampard, Cole, Duff, and Robben, but they don’t have one “pure” right winger. Chelsea have a lot of top-class defenders but again they don’t have one “pure” left defender, so, during the season they need to put Gallas (center back) playing in that position.
Re: Summer transfers
Julio Baptista and Robinho to Real Madrid. This leaves Owen almost no choice than to leave.
Davids to Tottenham.
Baros to Schalke04.
Gilardino to AC Milan.
Vieri to AC Milan.
Re: Summer transfers
Babes, Newcastle is one word.
Which club did that Turkish guy come from? The one that Newcastle has signed… Emre (sp) someone?
Re: Summer transfers
emre was @ Inter Milan b4 he signed 4 uz lot.
Re: Premiership - La Liga - Serie A 05-06
Michael Owen: Liverpool to NewCastle (via Madrid)
Real Madrid striker Michael Owen has signed a four-year deal with Newcastle United and will undergo a medical later on Tuesday. The 25-year-old England striker met with Newcastle representatives at a secret location in Northumberland, having also held talks with former club Liverpool on Monday.
The 25-year-old will undergo a medical later on Tuesday and is set to complete his move from Real Madrid for a club record fee of more than £15 million ($27.11 million). Owen was sold to Real Madrid for £8million and Liverpool were not interested in paying more than that for him.
http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=341121&cc=5739
Owen played with Liverpool for years and then he started searching new clubs to win Champions League. He once stated that Liverpool can not win Champions League. He switched to Madrid who had a good record of either winning Spanish league or champions league for so many years. With Owen, they failed to win even a single title. Meanwhile Liverpool won the Champions League without Owen. ![]()
==>> Conspiracy Theory: If a club wants to win Champions League, get rid of Owen. :clown:
Now provided that Owen is out of the squad, Madrid may have a good chance of winning something this season. NewCastle are already facing a bad run and I cannot say if Owen can help them somehow.
Re: Summer transfers
^ Owen has the highest minutes-to-goals ratio in La Lifa last season and he had to prove himself to three managers in one season. By all standards he had a really good season amidst all stars. He moved only because he wanted to play first team football as worlcup is at the end of this season.
Owen with New castle united wont last long. He will score goals but his heart is with Liverpool who were not willing to pay more than what they did for him. He should be of great boost to Newcastle though. I think he will move back to liverpool after the worldcup.
OTHER NOTICABLE RECENT TRANSFERS:
Micheal Essien: Lyon--> Chelsea
Milan Baros: Liverpool--> Aston Villa
Re: Summer transfers
^ Owen wanted to win Champions League, and that was the biggest reason he and Beckham (who denied Barca) moved to Real. Now Real have finally found out they can not win any thing with Owen. Beck will be following him soon, I think.
The transfer of this summer was the switch of Vieri amongst Milan rivals. It was most controversial and most talked about transfer.
Re: Summer transfers
I think Vieri will flop with the rossoneri. I mean with Sheva and Gilardino in their ranks Vieri's role won't be more than super-sub
Re: Summer transfers
Whether Vieri delivers or not, this was still the best transfer of this sumer. A World-class Italian striker switched between city rivals of Milan (Inter & Milan), who compete at every stage, Serie A, Champions League or whatever.
Re: Summer transfers
So owen moving to Toonside?
would be interesting to see shearer and owen side-by-side.
Re: Summer transfers
Brilliant decision, micky owen will be a hit :insha:] @ Newcastle. :D] Now we have 3 gem of strikers in Alan, Luque and Owen who should help us turn around our abysmal start to the season. Come on lads let’s bury 'em all.
Now big fred needs to work on the defence.

Re: Summer transfers
so Mickeys signed for the Barcodes.:(
this transfer has effectively secured Soueys job till the end of the december at least.
Jenas might decide to stay as well as big Al maybe postponing his decision of retirement for another year!
good luck to St Michael. forever a legend of Merseyside.
hope Rafa doesnt sell Cisse now! the sale of Baros is looking like a BIG mistake already!
Liverpool signings:
Austrian winger Besian Idrizaj (17) Austrian young player of the year.
Welsh U21s striker Ramon Calliste (19)
Liverpool transfer stories:
Roma reject LFCs offer for French defender Phillippe Mexes.
LFC interested in Danny Bonera, so say AC Parma.
Feyenoords Dirk Kuyt rejects all offers in favour for 1 more year in Netherlands.
LFC linked with striker Sidney Govou of Lyon and defender Wilfred Bouma of PSV.
L'O Marseille reconfirm interest in Liverpool striker Djibz Cisse.
Re: Summer transfers
Good luck Michael. I'm sure the fans up in Newcastle will appreciate you well, unlike those so called Madrid fans..
He is so much the better player having played with those guys. I really think he has matured alot. I like him alot now whereas I hated him when he was at Liverpool. I think there's a bunch of people who feel the same way, and it is reflected in the fact that he was originally sold for a measly 8 million pounds but then resold for 17 million.
Re: Summer transfers
Liverpool sold Owen for 8 million and they won well-over 60 million in CL and BBC was there to help them guarantee a place in CL this year. This means another 10-20 million.
This is a Win-Win situation for LFC.
Re: Summer transfers
Jermaine Jenas has moved from Newcastle to Spurs for a reported fee of £8 million. Nobi Solano is on his way back to the Toon from Villa.
Gr8 decision, JJ in my opinion was one of those players who was way 2 overrated and neva really did do anything special in the midfield for us and Solano coming back is just the tonic our right flank needs. That was 1 bad decisioon Sir Bobby made by selling a class player like Solano.
