Re: suits in bari
It also depends upon where you live, it would be hard to make clothes as you go, if you don't live in Pakistan and don't go to PKistan every year. Also, if you wear shalwar kameez at home too then you would need more of those.
Re: suits in bari
Komal it depends on the brand. If you are looking at formals they can go upto 80,000.
Re: suits in bari
Or make them with enough extra room to get altered if needed to later on ![]()
Re: suits in bari
I'm not married, but I think 10-15 are more than enough. I'd personally go with 10.
Re: suits in bari
Why don't people post some of their Bari outfits pictures?
Re: suits in bari
I am not in favor getting large number of suits because fashion changes so rapidly and you have always find something good in market, I got married 5.5 years back, I made 5 heavy kam suits in total both jahez and bari...... and 20 other suits in total both jahez and bari some semi formal mostly embroidered and some casual thts it

Re: suits in bari
Just to give you some idea on usage going on experience: I got married about 1.5 years ago, and made about 7 heavy formals, 3 saris, 5 semi-formals and 10 casuals. Right in the beginning of my marriage, I got loads of wear out of the formal jorras. I only wore semi-formals at home, and would sometimes also wear my formal jorras at home for my husband
that was fun!
From about 6 months onwards I stopped wearing formals, except to big gatherings (e.g. weddings) and would wear semi-formals with lots of accessories.
From 1 year onwards, I was wearing my casuals all the time, and my semi-formals have been worn to enough events that I couldn’t wear them anymore.
Now (1.5 years later) I am about to make new casuals, and a couple of semi-formals, but my formal wear is still totally wearable (I made long flowy gowns with trousers) and I plan to wear them at upcoming weddings (as long as my baby bump isn’t too big! :p)
So: formals DO last. But you definitely make use of semi-formals and casuals too. Also, another important note is that however many you make in jahez, generally double the number, because you’re going to get roughly the same amount in bari too! ![]()
Re: suits in bari

Re: suits in bari
Hello,
How many suits have you made for your bari ,if married.
I plan to do 6 heavy suits and 4 formal plus 5 casual kurtas or suits.
I got married about a month back. I had a total of 50 suits from my parent's side with 20 of these being formal and semi formal. The rest are casual. My in laws got 42 suits for me (excluding my wedding dresses) and about 15 of these are heavily embroidered formals. We have been attending a lot of dawats so I am getting good use of them!

just out of curiosity, with 92 suits, obviously you won't reuse/rewear a suit more than once...what do you do with them then? donate? repurpose?
are they all stitched? with the way fashion changes so rapidly, will you get to even wear all of them?
Re: suits in bari
Most ppl dont stich them all but still buying such a bulk is such a waste. I know two ppl who had 102 and 152 suits in their baris, both admit it was a waste.

We are in Pakistan at the moment so we are attending dawats here right now. There is a dawat almost everyday. I can also re-wear the suits when we get home for dawats there. As for casuals I can def re-wear those as well. All my outfits are stitched in different styles but you are right - I may not get to wear all of them. I did not get any unstitched outfits.
Re: suits in bari
my cousin also did 35 form her side with almost 35 from groom side..pus few unstiched.
the stiched ones got all to waste...as she fell pregnant within few months and had to sick few large kurtas..
as for he unstiched suits..it came out to be useful after her delivery.
I have been adviced by many newly married to avoid doing many fancy stiched..casuals are alsways handy!
Re: suits in bari
^ it depends on the number of dawats you will be attending post wedding. Both my in laws and parents are very social so the dawats are never ending, hence why so many of my outfits are heavy formals. If you won't be attending too many dawats you don't need a lot of heavy formals.
As for unstitched outfits, cloth and design also changes with fashion so it wouldn't be a great idea to gather a lot of these either if the concern is how much use you will get out of them.
Re: suits in bari
Anything above 40-45 from both sides in total I find insane (sorry :()
