Hello,

How many suits have you made for your bari ,if married.

I plan to do 6 heavy suits and 4 formal plus 5 casual kurtas or suits.

isn't bari supposed to come from the inlaws? i think you mean jahez. make as many suits as you will need, don't make too many because styles change so often. if something is in now, it might be obsolete few years for now so it will be a waste of money. i think the amount you mention is probably enough, unless you guys are super social and have alot of desi dawats and functions to attend.
try getting some sarees in your collection if you're comfortable with them. good thing about sarees is that they always stay in fashion. the same sari you have today, you can wear it 10 years from now as long as the blouse fits. meanwhile with shalwar kameezes, the fashion changes drastically.

Thanks..yes i meant jahez..i get confused in the 2 terms

actually my in laws are doing sooo many suits and i dont see the point of it for the same reason of fashion you mentioned. But since my choice is quiet different , i am still doing few suits for safe side.

We dont do saris in our family...

Would you know how many bedset should be done?

sorry no idea about bedsets. didn't marry a Pakistani so no idea how to really make jahez. but i would think maybe 2-3 would be enough?

Hmm right... Currently at my parents house i have about 10for my room so i dont know if i should buy for my future room from now or start collecting as time passes.

I change bedsets every week

I have a bunch of bedsheets too but didn't bring them with me at the time of wedding. we mainly bought them afterwards because we bought a king sized bed soon after getting married.
if you're getting bedsets, make sure you know the right size. we weren't planning on buying king size bed but queen wasn't comfortable enough for us.

5 medium (formal)
10 Semi-formal
10 causual

I have a friend who got about 30 outfits alone for her jahez (I think her inlaws gave her another 15-20) She was a skinny little thing so all her clothes were quite fitted. Then she got pregnant 3 months after the wedding and didn't ever fit into any of those outfits again. She never even wore any of them, I think she must have gotten wear out of 3 of them? And only cos she opened them up, the rest she's gonna give away/chuck.

So moral of the story is...buy extra large.

you should have about 10 to 15 formals And about 15 semi formals. It all depends on how often you will entertain or be entertained. How social you are and your future inlaws are. Some ppl have shadi ki dawats for the entire first year or more of their marriage. Again they have numerous events after the wedding such as weddings of siblings. So it all depends.

Keep it to a minimum. As Khatti said buy when you need some and according to your usage. Don't just buy because now you can. I personally had too many and ended up giving them away.

Nice thread. I was thinking the Same. But the Idea of 30 Dresses is Good. I Believe in quality and not quantity. Less Clothes but pretty ones :)
Any nice Brands or Designs for the formal Dresses or Even casuals?
BTW the Idea of saris is Good 👍

Awww I would hate to give my clothes away :( pics guess its hard not to buy too many.

Personally I think 20 would be fine too. One can always buy as and when you need clothes because fashion keeps on changing. Chinyere (bareeze), karma, Maria b do decent clothes with affordable price tags. You can also buy loose fabric from threads & motifs, needles, motifs etc.

I'm not married but judging from others who recently have got married I'd say 15 sounds perfectly fine. It also depends where you live

Guys do check l'atelier and melange in islamabad. These are design houses with lots of brands under one roof.
