If certain verses should be modified then killing as you desire, drink as you desire, fornicate as you desire would become all permissible under human wisdom.

And how can we forget that many religious text/knowledge are called revealed/divine. Some noted scholars opine that religious tenets were not immutable but today, when all books are available in soft and hard copy, the whole idea of modifying religious texts is stupid.
