Well I just had an idea in my mind. HOw about implementing a Rating System (Hmmm lets say numbers or stars) that makes the stuffz more sophisticated and the discussion more interesting and the competition more exciting?!
Just and Idea…I thought…

Highly crowded and well discussed and some with hard liner context make threads sophisticated and remembered. It's MY opinion! Being a member of this board and that of some others.
We rate the threads which we consider as "important" or worth wasting our time at. It's also a way to attract readers (guppies or non guppies) and those who want to check the database about "important" stuff in past time (which we once issued)...confused!?
As scripts and books (past or/and future) are being rated for becoming HISTORICAL in their ways, threads should have that privilegde too.
How?! Maybe the way polls are generated and I guess why has been answered now.
If some thread starts out to be "important" or "worth our time" but then all of the sudden on the second page, it changes into a battle field, then what? We give negative points? Stars can be assigned to fixed items, that we know will not change or go anywhere, not to "variable" items that can change as time goes.

Not everything in life is as smooth and cool, we also face our battles in life. Dont we? And some are stored deep inside of us. Some rated and some unrated dependend on the "importance" we think we give.
Agar haan me haan hi milani hai then I can waste my time on CNN or TV Shows. This is a DISCUSSION BOARD. BaK BaK has value here.
The main purpose is to advertise and improvise, have changes as much as u can have....good or bad that we will know after practical experience. It can flop or it can be a success.
The most suitable forum for such an experiment could be IMG...

Depends on who issues the stars, if Mods/Admins assign stars, then one can simply avoid checking the starred threads.
Right, we may be able to use the system in the image section but I just don't see how it's going to work out in other forums. Do you have any plan in mind? I mean let's say there's an open topic in Life forum and you think it's important and give it a 5, while someone thinks it's a dumb topic and gives it a 0 or 1, how will that work out. But then again, if we rate pictures (especially personal), then people will take it on their heart personally and might get offended.

Rating each reply rather than the thread as a whole would make more sense, I suppose you could then take the average rating and apply it to the thread as a whole. Obviously the rating would adjust every time a new vote was registered. One vote per user per reply so a user couldn't skew the vote by voting repeatedly would be necessary. A log of how a user has rated each reply should be public as well.

Well it's an Idea I had when I thought of this good forum to have at least a HALL OF FAME, where great "legends" like Malik should have had the chance of being ideolized.
Don't know how much effort or encouragement a HALL OF FAME would get on this board, but maybe this suggestion could have get some encouragment.
Im not here to make myself FAMOUS NYA :P

Simple Shikra....the average is been taken, even if a person decides for FUll Points or 5 stars and another gives it a go of 0, then we will have an average of 2.5.
Well we have to be honest to ourselves and judge fair and relative to the person...a biased voting system would be just bad for this board.
Further:
As for this I would even suggest ppl have to OBTAIN A VOTING STATUS, by each guppy to reach a certain stage of necessity to have the rights to VOTE for threads. SOmething the Administration stuff anc Creators of GUPSHUP may decide.
But these are all advanced features.
The basic implemention would or should be at IMG....as I have mentioned before.
Cafe flooders would just spam each other’s threads will full marks

Aha! That's where the problem is. I am not trying to diss your idea but I am just coming up with the other side of the issue. The problem is that people on this board are selfish, biased, haters, and jealous. If I don't talk to you, then guess what, you get a 0 from me on your excellent topic. If you are my pal, then guess what, you get a 5 with ALL OF MY IDs on your dumbest topic you could ever come up with, be it a thread with a yawn smiley in it.

Thats the way ppl are treated here I partially agree on this. And all of ur IDs shouldnt even work, since Multinicking should be banned anyways. Don't know who is responsible for that but this is another issue.
The basic idea is give those guppies some more inter action and more "freedom" lets see who abuses who not and I stated, one should EARN his STATUS of voting.....I dont remember voters being below age 19 (18) in Europe....gettin my point?

Oh no, I am not offended. Everyone (well I didn't hide it) on gupshup knows I have only 2 IDs. This one and "Sohail A" I don't post from that ID anymore. This is the one currently in use :p
