I can’t wait for the shoe stealing..money getting rasam…at my cousins wedding, but it seems like he’s coming full planned..and he’s gonna have his tricks too…anybody know any ways of getting the dulha’s shoes and being successful??? or just share your funny stories!

At a wedding I went to recently there were lots of photos being taken of the bride and groom with different families on the stage, so all the girls planned to go on the stage and have a photo taken thus distracting the groom so one of the girl's two younger brothers could crawl under the groom's chair from behind and steal his shoes.

*All the saalis (wife’s cousins) are trying everything to steal the groom’s shoes and the groom’s cousins are trying their best to guard them. Finally both the parties settle for one shoe each.

pesonally, i hate this rasam. Its time waste and some people might take it very offensive. I would get really mad if someone took my shoe and ran off with it. I've already told my sister and family members not to waste time on such rasams.

As soon as we entered the hall, my husband approached my sister and gave her exactly what she was expecting from the rasm. He said he really didn't want to go through all the hassle. ;)

well i remember there was a stage at a friends wedding, and they hid them under there..lolz and i was like Hmmmmm lets check under the stage and i jst lifted the cloth that was hanging over it and there they were...hahahahahaha Cha-Ching!!!! ;)
so yea check near or under stages wen they are hidden.......and chairs too......

wid us.. we told da bride and groom dat we were gonna play a game and they both need to take of dere shoes..and da groom actually fell for it.. it was a real game..lol but it was funny how he took da shoes of himself and was like " ye lo, ab kiya kerna hai" lol

In a wedding with a Danish Groom and a Bengali Bride
As a Danish tradition when the man is wed, his socks and tie are cut! And unfortunately for the Danish groom, a Bengali tradition is for the kids to steal his shoes too…only for him to have to pay for them. Poor thing, shoeless, sockless and tieless!

Make sure it is actually the groom's shoes please and not someone from his family.
When my husband and his family were coming on stage, they took their shoes off and the guys on my side ended up stealing the shoes of my poor brother in law who had to walk around shoeless hahaha

haahah you ladies come up with the cutest thread topics :P We won't be doing any such thing at my wedding :) Never did for my sister because she strictly told us not to ahahah.. so I won't allow them to do so for my husband either :P

we didnt do it for my sisters wedding we were too young but i was telling my younger sis that u better do this rasm i think it would be so much fun!!!!
but i really dont think him and his side will let us be successful oh well worth a try anyway :)

I think its a fun rasm, as long as everyone remembers it is just meant to be fun and doesn't take it too seriously! My hubby was mentally prepared for the rasm and eventually allowed his shoe to be removed. My cousins and friends didn't make unrealistic demands and agreed an amount fairly quickly, so the fun still remained it was a good laugh and the rasm was completed.

I love this rasm, it’s all in good spirit and it’s a laugh.
I went to a wedding where the groom just stood up when the brides sisters and cousins were trying to take his shoes off. It was a simple technique but it worked because they couldn’t lift his leg up to remove his shoes. But then one of the brides uncles came up with the pretence of hugging him and pushed the groom back into his chair…the girls then quickly removed his shoes!
