Re: I want to change my career…
I work in the banking field and hate it. I guess I just hate working and wish I could sit on the couch all day long doing nothing.
On an more serious note, trust me if you think banking/investment is a easy job, then it’s not my dear. With all the experience and time you’ve invested being a doctor, I’d suggest choosing something within the same realm. Making a complete switch now and starting with a clean slate would mean putting another 3-4 years for work before you can get anywhere. (Excluding the time it would require to get an additional degree if you decide to go that route)
Everything else might seem easier than being a doctor right now (It is a understandably demanding ) but any good paying job will intially require close to the same effort you are putting in now. Nothing is easy.
If it’s the job you detest, then go make the switch. But if it’s because of the level of hardwork, boringness…etc, then I would suggest taking a break or maybe choosing something less demanding within the medical field (You could join a hostpital within a university or such…less paying but then it’s less demanding)
I don’t think banking is easy, I dont really think any career is easy to be honest. I dont want something easier I just want something that makes me happier…whatever that may be.
But i think yours and everyone elses advice about a break is a good thing to do.
Oh and university hospitals arent any easier… not the UK anyway.
