so what kind of subject Pakistani directors-producers should make the movies on?
honestly i am sick and tired of these bhai-chara movie based on partition. when they will learn to move on instead of highlighting some crap love between hindu gal and muslim guy or vise-versa.
and also this Jatt-dakoo kuchra…which is not even part of our culture!
may be it is a part of phelwan khandans, but not everyone in lahore belongs to phelwan khandan.
well i wana see movie on contemporary-urban-success stories, highlighting one issue and the steps of struggles the main protagonist went through, where reality is shown but not larger than life (wearing awful clothes, heroine initially showing attitude and then totally falls in love of some loser)
and also instead of copying bollywood crap i.e. devdas and turn them into a joke
they should copy stories of Khwateen digest, shua, kiran (no, please no pakeeza)
atleast all the dramas which are based on stories from khwateen waghera waghera, they are turning into super hit...i.e. dill diya dhleez, tair-e-lahoti, and also doraha (wrote by the writer of these digests)
The Hindu culture has too much of a strong influence over the Pakistani culture for major changes to take place. Track the history of the Pakistani flm Industry and you'll find humour that appeals to zameendars and ghandasa loving mashtanday (with respect to any on board). Koi haal nehi.
^ so what subjects you like to be projected on big screen?
@ mashtanday …
btw i still unable to dig any relevancy attached to this gandasa subject. so i doubt gandasa lovers will have any problem adapting new-innovative movies based on relevant subjects.
I'm sorry to say but an audience which makes Maula Jatt an all time blockbuster has serious taste problems. How about starting with all taboo subjects like karo kari, rapes or films promoting the lok virsa of Pakistan.
and i'm the president of USA. discuss karnay mein kia hai....jab tak hath paon na marnay parain sab lashpash hai. kiey jao discuss jitna kerna hai. lakin yaad rahay...harkat mein barkat hai. soochna achi baat hai. lakin sooch ke agay bhi kuch kerna parta hai...tum loag kia karo ge? zeeher se bharay paray ho...meethi batain kahan niklain ge tum loagon mein se.
PS: amongst the same jahil audiences indian movies are so very popular. what do you have to say about that?

hahaha...saieen sab say zayda dill ki bharas GS per app nikaltay hoo :p
btw, why are you against indian movies? i mean they are soo popular, but there are many pakistani mard hazrat who think they are garbage, i mean what is the parameter that makes them kitsch for you guys?
For the record, you said jaahil audience not me. Secondly there is trash that comes out of both film Industries but a lot more in Lollywood, or else Pakistanis would've watched their onw movies a lot more.
hmmmm decent stories honi chahiye like from risalas, teen aurtain teen kahanian...work from writers like ashfaq ahmed, bano qudsia, new talent umaira ahmed etc etc....
sab se pehle toh films ke ache naam honey chahiyein ....not like wehshi haseena, qatil haseena.....pakistani film ke title se hi pata chal jata hai ke film kaisi hogi.....agar bolly/holly ki film copy bhi karni hai toh usi standard ki banayain!!!!!!!!!.......achi story ke illawa achi cast bhi zaroori hai......
and that is actor and specially actress not only they are very very very educated, but also they have invaded the entire silver screen…uper say un k nakray and adain which normal gal wont prefer to do…and made the entire idea of belonging to this fraternity, taboo
yaar pata hai masla kya hai…humare directors jahil hai, warna toh humari purani films dekho tou woh achi decent hoti thi (i recently saw two old pak films…stories were ok but acting was great and funny)…ab yeh bhi nahi hai ke humare actors/actresses bekasoor hain…films ki nakamion main inka bhi utna hi haath hai jtna directrs ka hai…resham is a pretty good actress (look a her in mano salwa-she can act but when it comes to films you what hapens)…same goes wid saima…(she was pretty good in piya naam ka diya)…babar ali, shaan r good too but gujjar jaisi films ker ke barbad er liya apnay apko
Well, I think Pakistan has great talent…especially in dramas…at least there used to be. Some talented directors and producers need to put together a movie on a middle class home that struggled to get there and now their kids want to be “different” as they are influenced by the western culture and neighboring countries. It can be a story of how values were maintained in the quest for success…
Or a story of how a simple Pakistani girl goes abroad for studies after a lot of persuasion and how when she returns, brings back with her a converted American husband
Or how a family gets affected by fraud and corruption and how they find the right resources to help themselves get out of the mess.
i think the main issue is most of the film directors are worried about money rather than story and quality of a film. they don't even want to take the risk of showing a movie that will cater to a family audience because they know most of the people watching pakistani films want to see gujjar type movies. khuda kay liye was the first, but what the hell happened afterwards? we all thought our film industry is finally going in the right direction but phir wohi funding kee problem to equipment kee problem kai excuses....point is our film directors (majority of them) are uneducated and cheap. we first need to introduce educated and civilized people to the industry like iman ali and fawad and directors like shoman or mehreen...jub achai directors hon gai tou achee stories introduce hon gee.
yaar, honestly is that it?
there are so many other good looking and good personality looking guys and gals exist in Pakistan…the thing is Indians do put effort to look for the desired face.
**and cant lollywood they make simple movie on some uni gals and guys…do they really need to fancy everything? do they really have to follow indian culture and put some pathetic 5-6 dance in every movie? Cant we set our own ideology our own sets of rules, and our own Set of limitation and portray what is good for the public, and what shows hope about our religion, our culture, our moral? **
why do we have to compare everything to india…if we really wana compete with indian then why not on the basis of Film techniques, writeUP, casting, directions, and production, and present as many realm as we can.
dont ya think, we need new face, new stories, and new directors, but the lame audience remains the same? Gals our afraid to step into this field cuz of the lame objectivity of our own male audiences, and us female dont even show them their bitterness.
even our music director who are pretty good in direction but they also have some dirty minds.
whether its Jalal (i.e. his Saaithya of ALi khan…heroine’s shots are so Yuck!), Ahsin Rahim (i.e. sajania of Ali Zafar err )
and i am afraid if Saaqib Malik plans to make a movie and he picks Tooba as her heroine then god know what gonna happen
we really dont need to make try to be cheesy love lafra thing. instead it can show knowledgeable, gheroo family oriented subject i.e. A life of a Pakistani
Pakistan do have some great talent in TV, but they are also misusing them by copying indian awful way of overly exposing strategy certain actors in Soap operas.
this Soap Opera is a disease cuz not only its like we audiences have loads of free time on our hands but it also revoke “Hivas” “chalakian” “makarian” and countless other evil approaches which get to exposed very wel on the TV. (her aik angle say shot lia jata hai)
another factor which is a drastic one, but ppl undermine it is that it is not everyone gets to watch the last episode of these 4-5 years old soap opera. so the audience, all they get to learn are these evil “makarian” and the latest trend of these Sariyan-Jewlery-shoes and what not.
indian drama’s ruined our women already. but when Pakistani try to follow their footstep, not only they lost miserably but also now they cannot really stick to their 13-17 episode formula.
your suggestions of American husband…hmmm i dont think it really gonna work…even if it works then i must say it should not work, because we should highlight our problems, our heritage first, and then try to show american influence. the problem in our culture is if something becomes a hit, everyone tries to copy it…like these Jatt-Gandasa movie. besides local pakistanis dont love to move to america but watching america husband on the big screen un say digest nahi hoga.
whereas your other suggestion is not only pretty interesting but it will also show how good of a researcher, writer is.
wassay nice idea…we should make movie something based on totally Witty dialogues, and not a masala crap!..for example. Few Good Men
are nahi yaar maine sirf example di hai ke lollywood actresses acha kaam ker sakti hain…but zaroori nahi ke film mein koi lolly actress hi ho…tv ki bhi hoskati hai…we have some really good actresses…ya they do put effort tabhi unki films bikti hain
hmmm u right even jo humara decent work hota hai woh culturally nahi hota like sanjania…ab kya zaroorat thi ladkiyon ko aise kaprey pehnanane ki halan ke ganay ki story achi thi…i think govt ko rule impose ker dena chahiye no short clothes or such type of videos
yeh jo low tabqa hai na …mazdoor tabqa…woh loag aisi gandi films dekhte hain…audience change honey ki zaroorat hai…aur cinemas bhi jis main friends, family araam se ja sakain…ab yaahn uk main cinemas ka mahol kitna acha hai..matlab i can even go on my own…but pak mein toh family ke saath bhi nahi jasakte…
Bottom line is funding - if the money starts being invested - you'll see a long line of quality people ready to make movies. Its all on the backburners now - people in Pakistan cannot afford to go to the cinema, and no one is willing to invest in a Pakistani film because its such risky business.
For 1 Khuda Ke Liye, how many movies were made that were supposed to have broken the stalemate in the industry which ended up being flops? No one is going to invest, even if you get a good group of people together - no guarantee they will make a hit movie. Why? Because no one in Pakistan really even knows how to make good movies - no one is really there to teach the new methods, no one has new equipment, etc etc.
The best way, at this point, to jump start the industry, is to promote people into making indie flicks and then feature them on the big screen. They're low budget - you can experiment all you want - and if it flops, then well, it was low budget anyway, so how much did you really lose?
Except that the Pakistani public in general is still way too uneducated for indie flicks...which is why people don't even want to make them.
Make at least 10 off beat films a year like Zibah Khana, and put them up in the theatre, and you'll see, the industry will grow.
The music industry, the fashion industry, and the TV industry all started out small before they became money making machines. That's where "lollywood" has to start. Back to square one.
what would you say about the censor policy of Pakistan Motion Pictures, i mean you can feel so many empty space in KKL which i doubt directors like shoman will ever neglect…i mean you can feel the incompleteness in the script, and deletion of scenes
