Re: Style/Fashion DO's and Don'ts

I think it's meant to be generally anything you find to be a do/dont... I could be wrong though...

Re: Style/Fashion DO's and Don'ts

Everyone...and anyone is welcome...on as Riya said on what you think is a Do/Don't....:) Your Personal Experiences

Re: Style/Fashion DO's and Don'ts

take regular showers, make sure your clothes dont smell of 12 masalay, use deodorant, dont try to cover up BO with perfume..

This applies to pretty much any situation where one is dealing with other humans.

Re: Style/Fashion DO’s and Don’ts

: cover up BO : :cb:

Re: Style/Fashion DO’s and Don’ts

We have this Doctor that hosts this program every week on the radio…The first Time I ever heard his program was when he was trying to explain to someone …Personal Hygiene…He went something like:"bagalooin mein aik cheez which is DEODRANT(he emphasized it)…Lagani chaheye…or ghusal ka tareeka(usual Islamic one)…and funny thing is he talks to All sorts of desi’s…I just found it funny…I was like yea…u tell him…:cb:…Anyway he is a decent well respected dude…no complaints as of yet..He explains very well..usually medical conditions:)
So way to be BO-Less!!..Ultimate DO!!!for the Boo!!

Re: Style/Fashion DO's and Don'ts

Fraudz, what part of "Style/ Fashion" dont you understand? If you want to carry on with the same conversation why dont you open up the other thread, you have the powers, dont you?

Re: Style/Fashion DO's and Don'ts

Ashtray- if you read the initial post it said pointers on personal hygiene :)

And I forgot to mention guys with colored contacts dont exactly look nice. It just doesnt work.

And another thing that doesnt really work is walking around with oil in your hair as a substitute for gel.

Re: Style/Fashion DO's and Don'ts

my bad, thanks Sabriya. Fraudz disregard my post above, it is the fault of the person who started this thread not yours, although it is always fun to rile you up :D

Re: Style/Fashion DO’s and Don’ts

Business Attire…suits if conservative environment, slacks and button-down shirt or sweater or polo shirt/khakhis if it’s business casual/casual friday
**Interview Attire…**safest bet is a simple suit, button down shirt and tie (for guys).
Guest at a Wedding Attire: If close to teh bride/groom, then decked out. If not close to the couple, a simpler outfit with some jewelery is nice. For guys, teh same thing they’d wear at work (if they work in a professinal field) is always a safe way to go :k:
For Masjid:..I guess shalwar kameez or equally loose, long clothing…(for girls).. um whenever I went to the masjid, there were always women fully covered, so it was nevr a “ew why she wearing that!” moment…

Re: Style/Fashion DO's and Don'ts

deodorant is the most important thing ............shud keep it in mind for both female and male.

Re: Style/Fashion DO's and Don'ts

Ladies- in perdais

Depending on the nature of the job and role- neutral colors navy, chocolate, taupe, beige, black, gray) with may be an accent in a scarf or blouse (well tailored pants, skirt, jacket). Non foofy purse and shoes. Small earrings, wedding ring (if married) (no gold chains in multiples please), may be a bracelet or churri (not the whole gold set).

Interview Attire- Crisp blouse, tailored pants, smart leather pumps, elegant breifcase/pursecase/laptopcase. Minimal jewelry. Manicured hands, no blazing nail color. Elegant makeup (no shimmer, no gloss)

For Masjid:..I know everyone should know that..but still some tips. (socks really help)..it is a tip- Comfortable outfits, butt covered if wearing pants, arms covered with non sheer (no chiffon without linings), socks.

GOing to Visit Friends Attire- I prefer casual shalwar kameez to desi friends places or jeans and kurti.
Desis.'s home. Shalwar kameez or sari.
Goras home- Shalwar kameez to get oodles of wows. Jeans and fancy kurti, khakis and nice printed top etc.

Re: Style/Fashion DO’s and Don’ts

^^ Well thought of :k:..U get an A from me:)

Re: Style/Fashion DO's and Don'ts

OK wat is up with people who dont brush their teetH???? they wake up and they'll sit around for hours before going to brush their teeth! maybe its me, but evne if i nap for 20 minutes i gotta go and brush my teeth , ti just feels so ick!

Re: Style/Fashion DO's and Don'ts

^ Same here - i just hate bad breath, i brush my teeth three times a day and use a mouth wash like 4-5 times a day.

Re: Style/Fashion DO's and Don'ts

Another thing.. if you're gonna wear cropped pants/capris or a short(ish) skirt... then dont wear a revealing top... and if you're wearing pants then you can obviously go for a nicer more revealing top.

The key to dressing for a social event is to try to keep the outfit simple but accessorize with a few staple pieces... dont have too much going on with a fancy dress, earrings, the whole nine yards...

And too much matchy-matchy stuff doesnt look that great either... its always more fun to mix and match! :)

Re: Style/Fashion DO's and Don'ts

One of the things that I wanted to touch on was also Dressing up according to your body type....Personally for me Personal style is far more important than the latest Fad/Fashions going on.Sure u can incorporate those into your existing wardrobe..But try dressing up so that The best Features of your personality...I said "Personality" show up or are more visible.
For example just because Skinny jeans r/were in , doesnt mean that everyone should put em on...I know personally they dont suit me...So I steered clear out of those(btw their sales were pretty down too...didnt catch up to todays demands:))...If u guys have some pointers keep em coming..
Something else to add..
For People Who have longer torso...The shirts/Structured Jackets should hit where the mid section of Hips is.Anything shorter will make them appear to be wearing a size shorter and dispropotionate to the pants...Makes sense to anyone:D
Wider at Tummy:
Wearing an Empire waisted shirt (which r pretty in this time of the year...really good time to stock up)...And a wrap dress works wonders in camouflaging such areas.Straight leg pants work well.
Wider at Hips: Wearing a lower rise pants(the usual perception is a higher rise, which is wrong as it gives more emphases on the wider part, rather then making a clean straight line of vision.Again Straight pants rather then the Fitted and flaring one/or the boot cut one.
Petite Sizes:
Again longer straight legged pants with pointy shoes make them appear longer and a well structured jacket that hits at the waist gives the visual effect of longer legs too..Monochromatic tones..basically tone on tone gives a leaner longer look...
Keep on adding...I need to take a break:D...

Re: Style/Fashion DO’s and Don’ts

I agree..The rule of thum is if u r wearing something tight i=on the top wear it with a looser bottom and vice versa..And accessories really add to the outfit…making it casual or formal paired with the right shoes:)…Cool Cool Riya:k:
