Re: Stupid Marriott
yeah..it all worked out well alhamdulilah!!! I ll be renting a stage from the decorators instead....the hotel is too concerned that another one of their employees will fall of and hurt themselves...its in december IA!!
Re: Stupid Marriott
Goodluck Chanda :)
its a beautiful stage… I was wondering how did they use candles? wasn’t it a safety hazard?
Re: Stupid Marriott
...unfortunately...Marriott doesnt allow any open flame candles....so I have to go down the battery operated route....darn those battery operated candles are expensive!!....oh well....
I love candles!!!
Re: Stupid Marriott
No candles as centerpieces either?
The wedding in the photo was in a hotel too, but I can't remember what kind of hotel it was... I think a Marriot. Those are real candles, but I'm not sure how they did it or who did it.
Re: Stupid Marriott
chanda, don't they mean you can use candles in vases and holders but not just out in the open? like tealights sitting on the table without a holder?
Re: Stupid Marriott
no flame period!!!! arrghhhhhhhhh...i have to use the battery operated votives and hurricanes....sucks :( my original idea was to have tapers inside the rose centerpieces....but that is not happening...instead i have to use my backup ideas now....low rose centerpieces with votives around it.....i noticed that if i added height to the tables...the ballroom looked small and the guests will get annoyed...so i need something that wont be a bother...and will look good...but yeah...i am so bummed about the 'no flame' policy....
Re: Stupid Marriott
well low is certainly more conversation friendly than high, so thats a plus point. and to make the non-flame candles look more attractive, since you're into DIY, you can wrap them in sheer patterened paper- either colored or soft white to create an interesting effect so its not just a battery-operated thingie on your table. martha stewart has that somewhere on her website and it looks really pretty - google it :)
but that is pretty stupid on their part... i've never heard of banning that entirely- usually they just want you to put it in a candle holder- i mean, i had a garden wedding and there was more chance of a fire there with all that greenery than in a ballroom! ugh.
Re: Stupid Marriott
Your Marriott is giving ME aheadache...I cant even begin to imagine wht is been doing to You!!
To me the lower centerpieces look more romantic, less showy, and definitly conversation friendly. If you have a mirror on the table, the votives light will look even brighter and prettier:)
To me it sounds lovely and yeah Marriott is being retarded, I guess instead of focusing on how dumb they r we can think of creative things and SGC is the QUEEN of creativity:)
Re: Stupid Marriott
My nikkah was at a Marriott also and we had like 5 real candles at each table. Are all the policies and rules left for this particular Marriott to follow?
Re: Stupid Marriott
:(
the funny thing is...that when I was showing them the photos of what I wanted.....not once did they point it out....that these things are not allowed....all the rules popped out AFTER I signed the contract...plus...they have photos of weddings with REAL candles....strange isnt it...!!
Re: Stupid Marriott
SGC...i am getting the frosted holders for the battery operated candles...so you wont be able to see them....and yeah....low centerpieces look a LOT nicer... :)
Re: Stupid Marriott
^ there you go, its allll goood! things like these seem like a big deal right now, but honestly, on the day of, when everything is set up, it will look so pretty, no one will realise its not the real deal! :)
your wedding will be gorgeous, darlin', i just know it! :)
yay for low centrepieces!
