How many of you have completed degrees after 30? Do you think its difficult to study at this age?
I’m thinking of pursuing a masters degree but its been years since I last sat in a classroom and I’m not sure what remains of my learning capabilities (:))
Never too late to study. Being a University professor, I get to see students from all age-groups. Many of my grad students are older than me and some are even my parents' age. I'm currently supervising a master's thesis student who's 57. Absolutely nothing wrong with it!
Also in my experience, we as Pakistanis are really unique in our stigma associated with age and education. We think too much about things like parhayi ki umar, saal zaaya, under-age, over-age and many other such absurdities - we need to start thinking beyond such superficial criteria.
I've thought of going back to college few times but it's so difficult after marriage and kids. All the research says that mature students do better than young students so you should definitely go back to your studies.

Golden words!. Exactly. I am finishing up my degree with lots of passion as well as dedication. And i am 28..soon to be 29 finishing my undergrad still. You can do it if you put your mind or heart into it. Cheers to ya!
I started and completed a multi course executive leadership certificate program which lasted about a year while working full time and with responsibilities as a husband and a father. I actually found that I was able to be more disciplined with my studies, projects and assignments than I was in my 20s when I was doing my MBA.
I am doing it and actually love it.Although I had to switch to part time and even skipped a few semesters in between as I had a newborn to take care of,but I actually loved the experience and am totally looking forward to go back this fall and work towards completing my masters. There was a gap of a few years before I started and it was not an issue for me to back to the classroom atmosphere and everything else that comes with it.
I'd say 30's is actually not that old.I have seen people older than that going to graduate school. When my husband was completing his masters degree he had a 55-ish years old physician in his class who just wanted to change careers at that point.I actually used to find that inspiring..!
One of my daughter who was struggling in her education, she tried various things without success finally found her niche, started doing very well now, Insha Allah would graduate Next Year at age of 28.
My husband has a bachelor’s EE, works as a test engineer, but always had a desire to be a pilot. His family never supported that career choice, so he went behind their backs and got his private pilot license while in college
He graduated right before we got married and entered the workforce in engineering, but I know his heart was elsewhere. He still flew recreationally, but always talked about getting into aviation as his main profession. Then 9/11 happened. Unfortunately, it forced him to put flying on the back burner obviously. And then came the kids and all the expenses and problems we had with IVF and concieving. Finally, in 2008 (in his mid 30’s) he decided to go back to school to get a degree in Aviation Sciences. So while working full time at his job, we combined night classes with online classes and last spring he graduated with a bachelors in aviation sciences. Part of his degree requirements was getting his Certified Flight Instructor rating from the FAA and he did it! So now he’s trying to merge his engineering experience with aviation and look for jobs with simulator facilities or something similiar. He’s still at his old job, but until he finds what he’s looking for in aviation, he is works for a regional airport on the weekends training flight students.
It’s never too late to go back to school and follow your dreams!
If you are financially strong and not putting your job or family in jeopardy go for it. My friend did her masters when she was in her forties, life never ends at 30.
