miss, by all means fight this evil I have no objection. But if you think you can eradicate this evil by just killing pawns then I dont think it's gonna happen. What is the root of this problem? instead of killing the henchmen in masses and disrespectig our own places of worship why dont we just nab the few heads who're responsible for this.
Common villigers, who dont even know the concept of money or anything, they come to city for work and are recruited by the medressas, why do we let it happen? why do we let the head of medresa teach this filth to young students? obviously there is something goin on.
The problem to most extent lies in their mentality and to most extent govt is responsible for this. Why the triple standards in our education system? English medium, urdu medium and then medressa for the poor. yeah, let the poor get all the teachings on extremisms and then we'll eradicate them all with a chemical weapon. What animals, man.
A freggin' nut exploding himself in a masjid killing innocents is a walking vegtable from a rural area brainwashed by a mullah who tells him it's ok, even though it's a masjid you gotta carry out this jihad but a mentally strong person who is educated on ethics and morals of society, when s/he calls for the bomberdment of a place of worship is beyond my understanding.

Musharraf's goal was to stop the illegal activity going on in the mosque. They got rid of the trouble-makers, and so the option of keeping the mosque closed for a few months would have sent the message that Musharraf is just doing the US's bidding on a war against Islam. Hence why he opened it to make a silent public statement that he's not in a fight against any peaceful citizen wanting to pray.
The behavior of these students coming back in is atrocious. They get let off by the government - they're free walking people, and they're still acting like baboons?
Don't they get it that if this were any other country, there corpses would be rotting in a mass grave right now?
Ridiculous. The government needs to conduct a full operation to de-politicize all masjids.

geez, lookin at the replies in this thread makes me think if all of you are extremists too, just on the oposite end of the spectrum....liberal extremists who would kill to protect their way of life. I'm acully begining to think that military force is not the answer to this. It didn't' do american any good in iraq and certainly wont do us any good either.
First thing's first. A masjid is a building that a group of muslims build, and wherein Islam is practiced and preached and help is given to those who need it.
Lal Masjid stopped being a true masjid when people started preaching hate in it, started training people to fight the law (which is just a group of muslims anyway), started training people to use violent methods to get their point across when peaceful methods were available, trained minors on warfare, and made women and little girls do their dirty work for them (like beating people up with sticks).
Therefore, you can't have respect for a building just because its got a minaret, and meanwhile so many wrong things are happening inside it. It ceases to be a place of worship and ends up being a place to plan and conduct sabotage in an inhumane and unIslamic way.
Such a place HAS to be eliminated. Do you seriously think the Prophet would have tolerated a place like this?
Remember, the government could have torn down the building and just gotten rid of it (which I thought they'd do); instead, they put their own certified maulvi there to lead prayers and put people there to control the situation, so that the building could be continued to be used as a REAL mosque.
Now, these same people are back and causing more problems, and they've kicked out not only government officials, but also one of their own "pious" MMA guys?
I mean, what does all this tell you? These people are real muslims?
Yes, I agree part of the problem is the way we've structured our education system. But its going to take time to fix. In the meantime, how many other mosques are going to become Lal Masjids? And by the time you have a good education system running, will people even care anymore, or are they going to start burning those institutions down because they feel they're American-brainwashed schools that will try to make their kids into "bad" muslims"? We've already seen these goons take over a PUBLIC LIBRARY and try to damage a girls' school in all this mess.
You think the problem is not enough schooling opportunities - so then why were these locations attacked and occupied? Why is there footage of these guys burning books from this public library, and why did they occupy it and not allow the public to use it?
