**Talibanisation of society: Madrassa students getting leniency
**By Rana Qaisar
ISLAMABAD: The government has directed the Islamabad administration not to take “immediate” action against the management of two Islamabad madrassas and their students who have challenged the writ of law in a bid to “Talibanise” society.
The madrassa students told a press conference on Thursday that they would continue their “jihad” against prostitution if the government failed to take action against those involved in “immoral activities”. “We will continue our campaign. This is the first step to Islamise our society,” a madrassa teacher said.
“We were asked [by high-ups] to take a lenient view of the situation created by the madrassa students,” Islamabad Deputy Commissioner (DC) Chaudhry Mohammad Ali told Daily Times.
The DC confirmed that a first information report (FIR) had been registered against 200 people for kidnapping two policemen and an alleged brothel organiser along with two other women. “We have sealed the FIR till further orders,” he said. Interior Minister Aftab Sherpao said the government would take “proper action”. “We will not allow any one to challenge the writ of the government,” he said.
PPPP Information Secretary Sherry Rehman said the situation showed the government had not taken action to stop “creeping Talibanisation” of the capital.
A senior official, requesting anonymity, said there was a view in the government that the madrassa students were trying to get themselves in newspapers and on television. “And the government does not want to open another front at a time when the lawyers’ community is already up in arms on the issue of the chief justice,” he said.

How many brothels are there in Jeddah? Does anyone know?
Re: Students raid Islamabad brothel
i'd like to thank picoico(spot on - as ever), mukhaan and anyone else who stood up for the pakistani viewpoint during this thread. the rest of you need to some time to think!
Tomorrow these mullahs and their girls will reprimand and attacks banks as they were dealing in interest - as they are in war with Allah! So it would become compulsory to lodge a jihad against whom who were in war against Allah!

Can Citizens Take Law Into Their Own Hands When the Authorities Don’t Do Their Job?

This question has come up from a host of recent events, including the attention-grabbing attack on a brothel by female madrassa students in Islamabad.
Mufti Rafi Usmani talked about this in his Friday prayer sermon, lamenting that this is a manifestation of the tribulations (fitan) that we are accosted with in our times. We are seeing that common people are fed up of the inaction, irresponsibility, ineptitude, and corruption of government and law-enforcement agencies; and they are taking matters into their own hands.
He also mentioned that many leading scholars went in person–in previous actions of these female madrassa students, in which they took over a children’s library–advising them that their actions were not Islamic, and that they need to change their course of conduct. However, in their zeal, they refused to listen to the scholars’ advice.
** Mufti Rafi Usmani** said that that these students–like others–are probably sincere. But sincerity alone is not enough for actions to be acceptable. Rather, for actions to be acceptable, they have to be in accordance to the limits of the Shariah–and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) lived within the limits of the law and urged the believers to live within the limits of the law at all times.
Situations such as this, the shaykh said, are very dangerous, because Islam is a religion of law, and it commands its followers to abide by the and to remain within its limits. *When there are problems with the government, its laws, or the enforcement of those laws, then it is a believer’s duty to take all legal means possible to seek to rectify matters. But one cannot take the law into one’s own hand, as this is contrary to the Shariah and a recipe for lawlessness, crime, and vigilantism–and it creates very dangerous precendents. This is a case of one problem being dealt with in ways that create many other problems.

Mufti Rafi Usmani said that this and similar situations that we face in our times remind him of the Prophetic hadith,
** “Hasten to good works before tribulations like the layers of darkness of dark nights…” [Reported by Muslim]**
He closed with advice to make much supplication with the Prophetic supplication for times of trial: “O Allah, I seek refuge in you from tribulations, both manifest and hidden.” [Reported Ahmad from Ibn Abbas (Allah be pleased with him); rigorously authentic]
[Allahumma innee a`udhu bika mina’l fitani ma dhahara minha wa ma batan]
اللهم اني أعوذ بك من الفتن ما ظهر منها وما بطن
And Allah alone gives success.
Boy was I wrong! May Allah protect these Ulema so they can further give us advice on how to deal with such situations, inshAllah.
Re: Students raid Islamabad brothel
Well, this is where I disagree. On the spectrum of destroying music CD's to turning a blind eye, or profiting from, human trafficking...sorry dude...you lost me.
This isn't about law and order...this is about your fear of traditionalist Islam (not just talibani style) in general. Isn't it?
Whats there to lose here? Its not a complicated argument... WE dont want people dictating how we sould live our lives... The police, as bad as they are, arent imposing their will on anyone.. People generaly free to live their lives without fear of their lives at the hands of those who would define what is or isnt Islamic!
This is your definition of "traditionalist" Islam? Talibani style of Islam is the pen ultimate expression of Islamic backwardness, and its a fine line that seperates this sort of thugish behavior and Taliban style draconian laws. You can accuse me of whatever you want, but no sane Human being would ever support a buch of vigalante religous fantics... This is a form of "traditionalism" Pakistan can do without...
Whore houses may be against the law, but kidnapping people and holding them against their will is illegal no matter what they cause... The ends DO NOT JUSTIFY THE MEANS!
Re: Students raid Islamabad brothel
police r not normal people..![]()
wait…u maybe right there actually ![]()
Re: Students raid Islamabad brothel
The point here is that no matter what, this sets a bad prcedance for the future.. These madrassa people have been been allowed to undermine the law and its only a mater of time before you see more invasive actions from these people. Today they are only asming the Music stores to close down, tommorow they will be threatening them with violence..
Re: Students raid Islamabad brothel

Shut down brothels by all means, but what will you do when they start wanting to shut down music stores tommorow, or anything else you enjoy? Must everybody live their lives under the dreaded Religous danda? You cant take justice into your own hands, today its this, tomorow it will be something else...

A lot of us have been saying this now that you read it from a so-called scholar it becomes the truth. Seems like people think common sense is an attribute of scholars or people with that label or title at least.

'so-called'? He's a respected scholar from the Indo-Pak region.
Unfortunately the words you guys typed didn't show that hikmah that Mufti saheb did. Alhamdulillah.

May be he just wanted to show you that clergy are also speaking against it.
Re: Students raid Islamabad brothel
Once again, this is why you do not try to appease the jihadi crowd. They will always come back and ask for more and more, until they have taken over.
Mushy will have to learn this the hard way again it seems.
