Student refuses Harvard scholarship to protest Mohmand attack

Jadoo sae bhai! Or pretty much the same way this comes into the discussion.

Also, the same way altaf, your super genius demi god, will come into the discussion. I also whole heartedly await the arrival of mooli, bhindi, and moonge ki daal being inserted into the discussion with similar jaddoo.

sincerely,

aliG

Re: Student refuses Harvard scholarship to protest Mohmand attack

i cant really say whether he did the right thing, or he took the wrong step, cuz only time will unveil the truth

but as a Pakistani i will back him up on his this action :)

ps. 5,400 Pakistani students were studying in America, no one said anything, and non of them ever did anything.
....he on the other hand did show some minor oppression and it made the headline.

the problem is Pakistan is not first world country, otherwise if he was an American and refused to take some thing honorary from Musharraf (iff Musharraf refused to help us in afghanistan) then same student would be praised for standing against Junta.

In case you didnt know, this guy is spearheading the entire anti-Musharraf drive on the internet, and thats what hes famous for. Samajh ayi?

Re: Student refuses Harvard scholarship to protest Mohmand attack

Nahi sir. No one can ever come close to the samajh your superhuman logic can achieve.

p.s. i sure hope the scholarship goes to a more deserving, less na shukra, poor student as opposed to this "oppressed elite" as stephen colbert would put it. :)

kuchh log yahi to hazam nahi kar paye… a protest without burning vehicles, public properties? :konfused:

Are you describing the Taliban ?

Re: Student refuses Harvard scholarship to protest Mohmand attack

^ see, both are so similar in the game, only faces change :)

After reading this thread I have come to conclusion that Gupshup is full of retards :)

Are you calling yourself a retard?

lol. how so?

standing against junta? junta means jury...

Re: Student refuses Harvard scholarship to protest Mohmand attack

nope...junta means a military or political group that rules a country after taking power by force

Why are you hellbent on proving yourself one:)

boooo-yeaah!

yup… an elite hypocrite he is 4rm a hypocrite country!

Re: Student refuses Harvard scholarship to protest Mohmand attack

I am going to say it is a good thing that he did. it needs a big heart to take such a step. but look at this in a cool hearted manner and ask yourself a question realistically; did he really do the wise thing? not in my opinion. see, we as a nation have rather been very forgetful about the people who take such steps for their country. consider one Dr. Haffi.( i believe i have the correct name here)he was one of the finalists for a grant that had to do with some medical research on some disease in children. it was going to be presented by the commonwealth. since pakistan's membership was suspended in 2004, Dr. Haffi was asked to change his nationality to become eligible for the prize. he was offered British citizenship and 20 million pounds.

he refused saying that if they wanted to give it to him, they should give to him as a pakistani. seeing that they gave him the 20 million pounds because he still deserved it more than any of the other finalists.

the story appeared in the first half of the year 2004 in Dawn. i tried to google it but unfortunately i can not locate it.
but i just wanted to ask this; how many of you actually read that story and how many still appreciate his patriotism.
apparently the government of pakistan did not think he deserved anything. i am not sure if i heard anyone giving him any recognition.
samad will become one more of those forgotten heroes.

Re: Student refuses Harvard scholarship to protest Mohmand attack

^ lets not equate what this fellow did with the truly patriotic action you are mentioning.

Do you seriously think he would have refused a scholarship if that meant him not being able to pursue his studies? If he is still at harvard, obviously the scholarship means very little to him in real terms. He is still studying at harvard, and his life hasnt changed because of what he did.

It is grandstanding, and useful, effective grandstanding. But nothing really heroic about it, because it doesnt change his life one bit.

I don't think he is from India.

he's not..hes 4rm the same place u r.

I'm from US :p
