Strings - Spiderman2 Soundtrack

Before last night I had never heard of this band. By a strange turn of events, and cutting a long story short, I ended up seeing them perform LIVE last night… and to be perfectly honest, I was blown away. They put on a damn good show… way to go guys!

Anyway, I also learnt that one of their tracks was featured in the recent Spiderman2 movie .. the lead singer admitted that this was their biggest achievement to date. Can someone please tell me the title of that track as, having just done a google on it, I can’t see anything listed by ‘Strings’ on the soundtrack listing for Spiderman2.

How long has this band been around for? How do they copmpare with Junoon (whom I have heard of by name but only because of the track ‘Sayonee’.. haven’t heard any of their other material)?

MM

Strings have been around for a while. I think they started in early nineties and came up with sar kiye yeh pahaar which was a super hit.
The title of the track that you are looking for is Najane kyon. You can find it at pakmusic and many other sites.

u can also check out these websites

www.stringsonline.net
www.junoon.com

Junoon.com for a Strings song :konfused:

Thanks, thats what I thought... but when I looked on the listing of the official Soundtrack for Spiderman2, there is no mention of 'Najanay Kyun'. I am listening to that very track right now as I type, it really is a cool number.. and growing on me very fast.

The reason why the song didnt feature on the OST of spiderman was because it was part of the spiderman that was released outside US. But still it was part of the OST of the movie spiderman. You should check out the video of the song also. Its pretty cool. They have some nice scenes from the movie in it.

yes the OST was made for the indian release of Spiderman

Hi Mystery,

you can found more songs of Strings at http://www.itspakistan.net/music/artist.aspx?aid=4 , including Najanay Kyoun.. thanks

Regards,

Thanks for the link.. but after seeing their performance last night I went out and bought 2 of their CDs - Duur and Dhaani (for a total outlay of Rs. 249 believe it or not). I have been listening to both CDs over & over all day today. I think I got a bargain with the CDs… and the event I went to last night didn’t cost me a penny as a friend had a spare VIP pass. So all in all I think I have had a pretty good weekend!

Strings has really grown as a band...

I went to their first concert when I was 15... I think Faisal was 16 at the time :) - both him and Bilal went to college and came back together after 8 years and rejuvenated strings... I happened to go to their concert in Toronto this summer, after a full 10 years since I last experienced them live - it was awesome!

That soundtrack was for the Hindi release of Spider man, not the worldwide english OST, its just that they said 'spiderman' in the interview, so that people would actually think its the REAL spiderman. And yeah, to be honest, they arent good live performers (even with background DATs), my brother and friend organized a show in chi-town last year, and their live performance was horrible.

you’re pakistani and you haven’t heard about strings. :konfused:

When did I ever say I was Pakistani? You are jumping to conclusions, just cos I bought the CDs in Rupees doesn’t make me a Pakistani… I actually bought these in India (Strings gigged in Bangalore last night).

Spock - I was impressed with Strings mainly because they are a Pakistani band .. and as such was pleasantly surprised as I had never seen a ‘desi’ rock bank LIVE before. By no means am I saying that this band is going to set the rock world alight, but their particular brand of music is certainly different and their performance last night was much better than what I was expecting from a ‘desi’ outfit.

^^ I agree, they are good in composing melodious tunes yet experimental.

Ill leave that to smoothie, us ko buhat shoq hai lambey lambey articles likhney/chapney ka.

:)

strings are probably one of the WORST live performers. Don't get me wrong, I love their songs. But their style of songs aren't concert friendly at all.

I don't understand why everyone is making such a big deal out of "yeah it’s only the Indian version of Spiderman they sang for" etc.
Hell – its still a huge achievement… an international one I might add as a qualifier. They were still chosen by Sony… makes me proud as a strings fan and makes me even prouder to know that for an Indian release, they selected this particular Pakistani group out of all the choices they had practically around the world.

Also, there’s no point in comparing them with other groups - Strings, Junoon and Fuzon are my favorite bands… it just so happens that I listen to all three based on whatever I feel like.
